Let me tell you a story about a chair. 🪑 A while ago, I was at a friend’s place and noticed this old chair sitting in the corner of the room They were packing out of the home that same day so the chair was one of the last things they were going to move out. There was nothing special about it. It wasn’t some expensive designer chair or anything. It had a few marks on it, the kind of chair that had clearly been around for a while. I sat on it while we were talking and and he took me a random picture I didn’t think much of it. My fried and his parents hired some persons to help them pack their belongings into the van outside cause it was much. One of the people came in the room and asked me ‘Sir what re we going to move next’ I was surprised cause in my head, I’m like ‘ Ser can’t you see imma visitor’ My friend whispered to him And said he would move the table but He still fixed his gaze on me cuss he felt I was the boss since I’m siting and my friend is standing. Before I could give him an answer, my friend’s parents came in but guess what, these guys were still waiting for my instructions lol cause I was the only person sitting while everyone else was standing including my friends parents 😀. Then I realized how powerful the chair can be and I became the interim de facto leader for that entire day. As for the picture my friend took me, It was just one of those pictures you take because something about the moment feels right. Then I forgot about it. Months later, I came across the picture again while going through my camera roll. And for some reason, I remembered that entire day. The conversation. The room. What we were laughing about. Even where everyone was standing and I was sitting. The chair had basically become a timestamp for a moment I didn’t know I would want to remember. That made me think about how many things we casually photograph without realizing they might mean something later. A random chair. A street. A meal. A stupid screenshot. A place you thought you’d visit again. Sometimes you don’t realize you’re documenting a memory until the memory is already gone. And maybe that’s why I still like that picture. Not because the chair was special. Because of what happened while I was sitting in it.
