I don’t even have the words for not having any words. We stick together. Breathe. Keep the patient comfortable. Feel like shit. Take care of the poor, each other and ourselves. Look around for all the light that remains and can never go out. Sending you all a big quavering hug.

Water-Limited Hydrothermalism and Volcanic Resurfacing of Eridania Basin, Mars. buff.ly/4d0ZHyr Study finds that Eridania's northern basin experienced a distinct, possibly longer‐lived aqueous alteration than the southern basins.

My first dissertation chapter is now out in JGR-Planets! Here we’re tackling the Eridania Basin system in the Mars southern highlands, which has generally been considered a site for long-lived hydrothermalism, but we find might have been more limited…

So proud to have been involved in acquiring this drill target!! Mineral King let’s go!!! 👑👑
Behold “Mineral King" – my 40th successful Martian drill hole 👑
I'm analyzing the sample from this target (named after a silver mining district in @SequoiaKingsNPS) to learn more about its chemistry and mineralogy.
Spoiler: My team doesn't expect to find any silver...

ALT A color image shows a close-up shot of the Curiosity Mars rover's 40th successful drill hole named "Mineral King." The hole is in the center of the image and the detail shows the grains of the drilling that has piled up around the circle. The Martian surface is a light beige color and the rock surface surrounding the hole shows many layers and has almost a soft shine to it.
