I had a constructive first meeting in Washington, D.C. with my counterpart at NASA, @NASAAdmin. We had a very constructive discussion on space exploration and are fully aligned on our shared objectives: the Moon, LEO, and Mars. Looking forward to continuing the discussions.
I was pleased to welcome Director General @AschbacherJosef and our @esa partners to NASA Headquarters today.
As we move forward with our return to the Moon, the European Space Agency remains a key partner across much of NASA’s portfolio. Their contributions will be important as we build a sustained lunar presence and prepare for missions beyond.

Passer plusieurs mois sur l’ISS est un véritable défi pour le corps, car l’impesanteur induit une perte de masse musculaire et de densité osseuse 💪🦴.
Afin de limiter ces effets, les astronautes font en moyenne deux heures de sport par jour ⏱️ sur des équipements sportifs spécialement conçus pour l’apesanteur 🏃♀️.

Enkele maanden doorbrengen op het ISS is een echte uitdaging voor het lichaam, want gewichtloosheid veroorzaakt spierafname en verlies van botdichtheid 💪🦴.
Om deze effecten te beperken, doen astronauten gemiddeld twee uur per dag aan sport ⏱️ op speciaal ontworpen fitnessapparatuur voor gebruik in gewichtloosheid 🏃♀️.

The European Space Agency @esa and the UK Space Agency @spacegovuk are working hand in hand to empower the UK’s space sector, including its adjacent industries and vibrant startup scene. The results of our collaboration stand for economic growth, technological and scientific autonomy, high-value jobs for Europe and the UK, but also for a shared European vision of space that is both ethical and sustainable.
The new figures announced today reflect ESA’s longstanding commitment to help the UK in building one of the most attractive and innovative space economies in the world, whilst developing new scientific and industrial capacity and capabilities with partners across Europe.
The UK space sector saw a huge boost in funding from @ESA programmes, with an additional £112 million in contracts secured between June 2022 and December 2024. 🛰️
The new figures were released on the opening day of @SpaceCommExpo in London.

The 2nd successful flight of #Ariane6 marks a significant milestone in Europe's journey towards enhanced autonomous access to space. Ariane 6 takes flight for the second time with a triple boost from Vinci!
After the deployment of its passenger, Ariane 6's Vinci engine’s third boost put the upper stage into a reentry orbit to safely burn up through Earth’s atmosphere, preventing accumulation of space debris.

This first image, a cross-satellite interferogram that uses data from both Sentinel-1C and Sentinel-1A, shows the Atacama Desert plateau in northern Chile and was generated from images acquired just one day apart.
The two satellites are in perfect sync and the radar instruments are working well.

This defies how we thought matter falls into black holes, and points to a potential source of gravitational waves for @ESA_LISAmission.
