This Milwaukee Brewers team is having one of the most impressive post season runs in a while. Completely dominated the big bad Dodgers in the NLCS, and now they're dominating the American League #1 seed in the World Series.

“The Brewers must be cheating” Can you even fathom Dan Vogelbach orchestrating a complex cheating apparatus

Free agent news: Hearing ex-A’s righty Michael Kelly is a candidate to sign rather early with multiple Japanese teams interested and some potential stateside bites.

If Sleeper’s business plan didn’t include trying to leverage gold checkmarks into parasitic engagement, perhaps I’d be a little more generous. It’s not you. It’s your bosses. Even if everyone sees it and knows the score, I prefer not to oblige things that are cheap and vacuous.

Consider, for a moment, the age of the long ball: an era in which the leadoff man, the table-setter, the sparkplug, the pest, now swings from his heels at every pitch. He sends 50 baseballs into the seats each year and walks back to the dugout after strike three 200 times without shame or remorse. He hits .230, and no one asks him to apologize for it. This is the natural order now: three true outcomes, and nothing in between. But in that liminal space between bleacher souvenirs and strike three, there lives a man named Chandler Simpson. Like a time traveler, he slaps the ball the other way, puts his head down, and runs. In his big league career, Simpson has hit exactly as many home runs as you have. Zero. Now, on baseball's biggest stage, he bats third, a place once reserved for thunder. And for the first time in four generations, it belongs to a man who has none. He doesn't know it yet, but Chandler Simpson has just stepped into the batter's box... of the Twilight Zone.

Tolle should be involved in the labor talks because that’s the only way the two sides are going to understand we cannot miss next season. He is a gem for baseball.

No exaggeration. Tolle's going to be the most loved player in the league for the next 15 years. By the fans AND the other players. When he retires it's going to be a thing league-wide.

tbh this might be a contributing factor in my turn towards spirituality. i have no capital--no house, no car. the most expensive thing i own is a $600 laptop. i make 1.5x a grad student stipend. the only place i might not be in the permanent underclass is the astral realm.
this is my quarterly AI crashout if you read my tweets you know im a shitposter and unserious, but im being serious and vulnerable right now. I am very pessimistic about the future of every career because I don't believe there will be a single thing AI isnt faster, cheaper, and better at than me. It is great that AI helps me get so much done, but it is humiliating that it has made a lot of skill acquisition itself completely pointless. I pride myself on being a fast learner, but there seems to be zero value in learning anything anymore. The future is monarchist feudalism and the destruction of the middle class and lower upper class. I don't think social mobility matters anymore because I don't think there will be money in the future. People talk about "the permanent underclass" all the time, but I think the millionaires will be on the side of the proletariat. You have all the money or no money. Money will depreciate so fast because there is nothing you would pay each other for. There will be precisely two types of transactions remaining: the transfer of capital, and petty transactions like buying food or water. Financialization will break down as the cost of skill, expertise, IP, etc goes to zero. I used to believe I have developed a set of skills that would be profitable for a long time. But there are no such thing as hard skills anymore. In the future, if you survive, if you do anything, if you have a position in society at all, it is because the powers that be are humoring your existence for whatever reason. I wish I was two years older, though I don't wish I was five years older, and I'm thankful I'm not two years younger

Adrian Morejon is probably the player that has moved up the most on the free agency tracker since I started working on it. Normally relief pitchers, even elite ones, are at a particular disadvantage because even the best ones are generally getting one inning two or three times a weak. What makes Morejon different is his comparatively young age, elite performance/talent level, and an overall lack of warts. This is a year where even the best players available have noticeable warts. Morejon just doesn't. He's kind of the perfect backend relief pitcher on paper. Kind of crazy he hasn't gotten a chance to close yet until you remember that the guy he's setting up is Mason Miller. You'll find out TOMORROW exactly where he lands in this year's the top ten.

And again, the question isn't just whether MLB couldn't do a better job at their revenue disparity, but why the *players* should have to foot the bill for an owner vs. owner problem.
