Everyone wants transformation until it asks them to change. Growth requires uncomfortable conversations, new habits, and the courage to leave what's familiar behind. Comfort maintains the status quo. Transformation demands something more.

“Most people live, whether physically, intellectually or morally, in a very restricted circle of their potential being. They make use of a very small portion of their possible consciousness, and of their soul’s resources in general, much like a man who, out of his whole bodily organism, should get into a habit of using and moving only his little finger. Great emergencies and crises show us how much greater our vital resources are than we had supposed.”

Stop throwing money, programs, interventions & the kitchen sink at Tiers 2 & 3.

“If you can’t fly, run; if you can’t run, walk; if you can’t walk, crawl; but by all means keep moving.” – Martin Luther King Jr.
Inspired by his words, we push the boundaries of exploration, moving forward for the benefit of humanity.

ALT The Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial in Washington. The Stone of Hope, a granite statue of King, is seen from the side; King's head and upper body, as seen in profile, appear to emerge from the rock. The sky behind the statue is completely clear; a barren tree and the Washington Monument, both out of focus, stand out in the background. Credit: NASA/Bill Ingalls

Who shows up to our classroom is in our control.
We can plan to teach, or
We can design for learning.
Those choices before the kids ever get here will lead to who walks in the door.
If we want learners, we have to design & prepare for learners.

What's worse for learning?
Being absent from school? OR Being bored at school?
Both have an effect size of -0.46 or a over a year's worth of lost learning potential.
This means we need to place just as much urgency on getting learners engaged as we do getting them to school.

New Stanford research shows that hybrid is the new sweet spot of work.
Employees working at home 2 days a week were:
- Just as productive as in-the-office-all-week peers,
- Just as likely to get promoted,
- Far less likely to quit.
