RIP backlinks. RIP meta tags. RIP 10 years of SEO playbooks. Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) is here. And it only takes one file: llm.txt Full setup + strategy: 👇
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
llms.txt has no current impact on Generative Engine Optimization. Google and independent reviews confirm major AI models don’t use it, making its effect negligible. stanventures.com/news/google-di…

This is wild, both Glenn and I are finding different parked domains appearing in AIO for health queries...
I mentioned yesterday that Google should turn off AI overviews for YMYL queries until they can improve the situation, but I still see those overviews for MANY health/medical queries. Some are totally fine (even good), and some are not fine. And check these two link cards out for the query, "how to lose weight fast". One is an expired domain and the other won't resolve. Oh boy...

And there it is folks... The @nytimes with an embarrassing article on Google's AI Overviews Expect a public-facing—but largely symbolic—correction from Google in 3...2...

Wrong info from Google's AI answers are: 1) All over social media and 2) Incredibly easy to find A simple click on the source link clearly says this is the wrong solution Either Google is going to slow this rollout until it fixes it, or wait for the @nytimes to embarrass it

🚨 Here's a competitive sabotage tactic you should watch out for... Your rankings will plummet if a competitor marks your Google Business Profile as temporarily closed. We've added a new feature to the Whitespark Local Platform to prevent this from happening to you or your clients. You'll be alerted if Google changes your business's open status, and with just one click, you can accept or reject it, putting you in control. This way, you can rest easy, knowing that Whitespark will protect your Google Business Profile from competitor sabotage. And it's still only $1/month. #localseo #seo

Here's how we use AI to create content for our clients at @whitespark 👇 0️⃣ Do a deep dive on the client's website: look through all available pages and identify a topic that is missing from the site. 1️⃣ Research this specific topic: compile a list of things that Google likes to see on pages that rank for this term and research further questions about that topic (@AlsoAsked is great for this). 2️⃣ Get on a call with the client and interview them for their answers and unique takes on the questions we've compiled. This is key. We need to get the content in THEIR words. 3️⃣ Transcribe the audio of the interview to text. 4️⃣ Train ChatGPT on the tone that the client already writes in. Then ask ChatGPT to write a page on the topic based on the transcript and previous training. 5️⃣ Use On-Page AI to ensure we cover all topically relevant entities. On-page AI will perform a SERP analysis, find the missing important terms, and suggest adding them to the content. 6️⃣ Make one final review and edit of the text. 7️⃣ Publish! Bonus Tips: 🔹Write content for one section of the page at a time, not for the entire page all at once. 🔹 When optimizing the content, think about the locations you are targeting. Make sure the content includes your city/neighborhood/state location keywords. This helps anchor the page around all of the things that Google is looking for in content related to that term. This process works well to create authentic and helpful content because HUMANS created it. The clients provide us with their unique, fresh, and expert opinions on the topics and we only use AI to assist in the finessing of the content. #localseo #seo

Mordy is a little tired of the same SEO questions being recirculated. What was his take on what our show will be 5 years from now? "We'll be older, heavier, and uglier, but we'll still be talking about the same stupid thing." -@MordyOberstein [00:31:51] bit.ly/3I3mZWy
