At our fall DC Luncheon, we celebrated the women who make it all possible. 🌟 USW's Roxanne Brown (@Brownrox), AFT's Evelyn DeJesus (@AFTEVPDeJesus), and IBEW's Nettie Stuckey have spent their careers organizing, advocating, and making sure workers have a voice. Their commitment to the labor movement and to working people is leadership we celebrate! And speaking of the ballot, #EmergeAlums U.S. Rep. Lateefah Simon (@RepLSimon), Tram Nguyen (@TeamTram), and LaKesha Womack (@LaKeshaWomack) joined friend of Emerge Keenan Austin Reed for a conversation about the women building our congressional future. Together, they represent exactly what the Emerge pipeline was built to produce: women who are prepared, ready, and winning. Let's double our representation and double our impact - November, we’re ready! 😎✨

We were honored to welcome Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi to our recent DC Luncheon, where she reflected on attending Emerge’s very first meeting—just 12 people in San Francisco 21 years ago—and celebrated our work preparing Democratic women to run, win, and lead! From our earliest days to this pivotal election, Nancy Pelosi has championed the power of investing in women, and the pipeline that prepares them to change the face of power. Thank you @TeamPelosi for your continued support of Emerge’s work!

Last week, #EmergeAlum Cindy Nava’s (@CindyNavaSpeaks) colleagues in the New Mexico Senate Democratic Caucus voted to make her the next Senate Majority Whip, making her the first former DACA recipient in the country to serve in State Senate leadership! Years before she was ever on a ballot, Sen. Nava sat in the halls of New Mexico's Roundhouse as an undocumented student, knowing that the people deciding her future were people she was not allowed to vote for. She came to this country at seven years old, and DACA gave her a chance to build a future in the state she loves. Her story is powerful, and so is her work. We will be with her every step of the way as she fights for people and families who need a voice just as much as she once did! 💪

Spotlighting an #EmergeAlum whose work is centered in advancing Native political leadership to make sure that Indigenous perspectives are always included in her state’s and country’s path forward. Mattea Twinn is a Grants Manager for the Ho-Chunk Nation, leading initiatives focused on Indigenous arts, sciences, and youth advocacy. She previously spent two years as Native American Coalitions Manager for the Democratic Party of Wisconsin, organizing community events and building partnerships with Federally Recognized Tribal Nations and Urban Native communities. Representation makes change possible, and Twinn’s impact helps ensure Native voices shape the decisions that affect their communities. #IndigenousPeoplesDay

#EmergeAlum Spotlight: State Sen. Julie Pazina (NV-12), one of Nevada's most effective legislators. In her first term, she passed more bills than any other freshman legislator, and in 2025, the Las Vegas Review-Journal ranked her the state's second most successful legislator, with about 80% of her sponsored bills becoming law. Sen. Pazina @pazina_julie has spent four years showing up and delivering results for her constituents, and we’re excited to watch her successfully defend her seat and continue winning this November!

What does Emerge's impact look like in the real world? Ask #EmergeAlum State Sen. Tameika Isaac Devine (@TIDEVINE). In this clip, she talks about her experience in both Emerge South Carolina and our Seated Together Program—an advanced candidate leadership program for Black women who are current & former elected officials aspiring to run for higher office—and how both programs prepared her to run without hesitation when a State Senate seat opened up unexpectedly. Senator Devine is now proudly serving in office, and is one of our Emerge Black Leaders Council co-chairs. Stories like hers are evidence that with the right tools and the right kind of support, every woman can step into leadership and win big. It’s why we do the work that we do. #EmergeAlum and Speaker of the Pennsylvania House Joanna McClinton (@RepMcClinton) made history again last month, presiding over a rare session in Philadelphia’s Congress Hall. As lawmakers marked 250 years since the Declaration of Independence, she recalled visiting Independence Mall as a child and never imagining she would one day hold the gavel there. Speaker McClinton is already the first woman and second Black person to serve as Speaker of the Pennsylvania House, and now she is helping the next generation picture themselves holding the gavel. Emerge is proud to be helping women like her see a path to leadership and preparing them to take it! 🙌

Two #EmergeAlums are stepping into national leadership for Black women and girls! 🎉 Representatives @RepLaMonica and @lateefahsimon have been named new Co-Chairs of the Congressional Caucus on Black Women and Girls in the 120th Congress, alongside Representative Shontel Brown (OH-11) and Representative Yvette D. Clarke (NY-09). The Caucus was built to make sure Black women and girls are a priority in policy debates, from healthcare access to workplace protections to legislation like the Crown Act. “Black women and girls play a vital role in shaping politics and policy, bringing invaluable perspectives and experience to the table… Too often, that contribution is undervalued and overlooked.” — Representative Lamonica McIver. We're so proud to see our alums carrying this work forward!

Voters in Virginia will have the final say on protecting reproductive freedom, marriage equality, and voting rights for formerly incarcerated people this November. #Emergealum state Sen. Jennifer Boysko championed the reproductive freedom amendment, in order to protect deeply personal decisions “without fear of government interference or criminal punishment.” One-third of Virginia’s state legislators as well as Gov. Abigail Spanberger are all Emerge alums. Emerge women built this moment.
