A new paper finds ideological bias in the production of research findings: Research teams composed of pro-immigration researchers estimated more positive impacts of immigration on public support for social programs, while anti-immigration teams estimated more negative impacts. Double blind reviewers judged both left and right-leaning ideological teams as having lower quality research designs science.org/doi/10.1126/scia…?

Excited to share our new paper on social reward learning in alcohol use disorder (AUD) in Translational Psychiatry! doi.org/10.1038/s41398-025-0… w/ @B_Lindstroem, Lotfi Khemiri, Nitya Jayaram-Lindström, & @EmotionLabKI. Across two separate samples, we examined whether individuals with AUD show deficits in prosocial learning—learning to maximize rewards for others. Surprisingly, reward learning was intact in AUD and unrelated to reduced prosocial behavior. Using computational modeling, we found comparable learning mechanisms in AUD and healthy controls, suggesting that social deficits in AUD are not driven by impaired reward learning. These findings highlight the need to explore alternative mechanisms behind social dysfunction in AUD.

Enjoy! Our new paper on social learning of mice.
A new study finds that when living in groups, mice form social networks that facilitate social learning and allow the whole group to respond to changes in their environment. scim.ag/3PCJANv @e_knapska @AlicjaPuscian @NenckiInstitute

I would be grateful for the retweets. Open PhD position in my group to look at using cognitive computational Neuro approaches to understand motivation.
Funded PhD (UK students only). Interested in a PhD working in @MSNlab, co-supervised by @froemero1? Topic is flexible around themes of motivation and decision-making, using techniques such as computational modelling, brain imaging, or brain stimulation. tinyurl.com/543ucffd

New lab paper out in @NatureHumBehav showing ppl build cognitive maps of social networks to track how information flows. How are these maps built? A replay-like mechanism reshapes them over night😴, making them more abstract, which helps with hardest social navigation problems
How do people track information flow through social networks? New research finds that extended periods of rest, like sleep, help people build abstract cognitive maps for efficient navigation of social networks. @marclluis @orielf @apaxon nature.com/articles/s41562-0…

Very excited that the UCLA Social area is hiring. The search is broad (social influence to social cognition to morality) and open-rank (a rarity for UCLA). The search is being led by our newest member of the team, @JaimieKrems. Please spread the word or apply yourself! recruit.apo.ucla.edu/JPF0973…

We are very happy to share new exciting work from the lab!! We found that delivering real-time, closed-loop, microstimulation to the OFC, triggered by social gaze events, boosts social attention dynamics during real-life social gaze interaction. cell.com/neuron/fulltext/S08…
