At what point do we stop focusing on who needs to pay more tax and start asking where all of our tax money is going.

DSA candidate Tim Denson tries to sell the crowd on “democratizing the workplace” and says Walmart should belong to the workers. Big mistake. The guy 6 ft away from him grew up in Venezuela. And he’s heard this communist fairy tale before. DANIEL DI MARTINO: “So you want to take it [Walmart] from its owners and have the workers do what?” TIM DENSON: “I want the workers to own it and get paid better and have better benefits and be able to provide better lives for their families.” DI MARTINO: “We can buy shares in Walmart right now. In fact, all of the SpaceX workers became millionaires overnight.” “You can start a workers’ cooperative right now. It’s legal, but under a socialist country, you’re not allowed to own your own property and start your own private corporation.” Denson tried to refute Di Martino’s point. Then Di Martino dropped this line on him: DI MARTINO: “It’s very easy to be a socialist in a capitalist country. It’s illegal to be a capitalist in a socialist country. That is the difference.” [audience applause] Then it got personal: DI MARTINO: “When I had to go to the grocery store, Tim, I had to put my fingerprint in a scanning machine so that they would tell me what I was allowed to purchase.” “And I could only go Mondays and Saturdays because we have to ration food, because that’s what happens when there’s no profit motive and the farmers, their food is confiscated because they had to sell it to the government and everybody else at the price the government tells the farmers.” “My mom made chocolate bonbons for parties.” “Well, people have a right to chocolate, so we had a price control on chocolate.” “So my mom had to buy counterfeit chocolate, put it in black bags as if we were cocaine drug dealers. That’s what socialism was in Venezuela. That’s what worker ownership of the means of production is.” “Where has it ever worked?” Denson had no answer. Because there isn’t one.

Denmark spent decades building nearly 5,000 wind turbines Together, they produced 21.6 TWh in the last 12 months One nuclear plant in Sweden made 23.3 TWh Oh, and nuclear runs 24/7 — wind doesn’t There's one big reason Denmark has some of the most expensive electricity in the world transparency.entsoe.eu/gener… api.energidataservice.dk/dat… eia.gov/electricity/monthly/… iaea.org/publications/16059
Fun fact: Sweden has four nuclear reactors that have each generated more electricity than all Danish wind turbines ever. Forsmark 3 and Oskarshamn 3 started in 1985, the year Denmark banned nuclear. Both still ahead of Denmark’s entire wind fleet.

Let's review Elissa's work history and see how it may fit into all of this ridiculous "pearl-clutching" that we're doing: 1. Served as the Pentagon's point person on the implications of the Arab Spring. 2. Advised senior Defense Department leadership on political changes in the Middle East. 3. Participated in interagency policy discussions about the Arab Spring. 4. Developed recommendations concerning political reform and its risks throughout the region. The "Arab Spring" was a wave of anti-government protests, uprisings, and revolutions that swept across the Middle East and North Africa beginning in December 2010. What began as protests against corruption, authoritarian rule, unemployment, and economic hardship ultimately resulted in the overthrow of several governments, prolonged civil wars, and major changes in the region's political landscape. Seems like old dogs really can't learn new tricks in Elissa's case. She and her Democrat / DSA collegues are trying to do an "Arab Spring" on those of us who voted for and support what President Trump is doing. So, as opposed to putting out a better argument as to WHY we should elect people like her, the better option for her and the Democrats at large is to threaten those who vote for the opposition party and set election laws to keep them in power in perpetuity - just like Maduro or any third-world dictator. Listen to their words. Look at their actions. This is what they absolutely want to do, and they have people like Elissa with her expertise in political upheaval for the sake of overthrowing governments to help...

We need a blunt conversation because I’m seeing that Americans still aren’t mentally prepared for the threat already here on our soil. Look at the public conversation around Nidal Hasan. People get caught up in the terrorist, the ideology, the politics. They’re MAJORING IN THE MINORS and missing the most immediate question. Are you prepared to fight for your life against someone who is fully prepared to die killing you? That should change everything about how you think about the threat. There are trained fedayeen attackers and suicide bombers on American soil. I’m not getting caught up in a numbers debate, but it’s far from zero. They intend to attack Americans where they live, work, and play. The current pause to the largest terrorist plot is a blessing that too many are squandering. You need to mentally prepare for the possibility that you could face someone who has already happily accepted death as the price of killing you. People are going to die. But when it happens, will it be you or them? You need to think about that possibility before you’re standing in front of it. You may not get a warning, a second chance, or time to process what’s happening. Be smart and use this time wisely.

Minnesota has a workforce problem, and this map explains why. A new analysis of lifetime income taxes found that the average Minnesota worker will pay $759,000 in federal and state income taxes over a 45-year career. That's the 5th highest in America — higher than California. The same worker in South Dakota? $325,000. Read that again: $434,000 more — for the same career, the same work, the same life. Just a different state on your tax return. Now ask the question every Minnesota employer is asking: why would a 22-year-old college graduate move here to start a career? And remote work makes it worse. This is the most mobile generation in American history. A young professional can take a Twin Cities salary and live in Sioux Falls, Austin, or Tampa — keep the paycheck, skip nearly half a million in taxes. The math isn't even close. I love Minnesota. We've got the best workers, the best schools, the best lakes, the strongest communities in America. But our tax code punishes exactly the people we need most — young workers starting out, families trying to build something. We don't have a talent problem. We have a policy problem. And it's fixable: win a trifecta, cut taxes, and start letting families keep more of their hard-earned money. Then watch them choose Minnesota. #SaveOurState #LowerTaxes #AttractTheWorkforce #VoteRepublican

Imagine being in Washington DC so long, you campaign against the health care bill you passed.
Kate is a middle school teacher, a mother of six, and seven years cancer free. But dealing with health insurance made going through chemo even harder. I had coverage I could depend on when I was treated for breast cancer, and Minnesota families deserve the same. As Governor, I will keep fighting to lower health care costs so people can afford the care they need.

We are seeing a total failure of MMT around the globe. QE and deficit spending (after 2008 and during COVID) was basically an attempt at Modern Monetary Theory (MMT). In a nutshell, MMT says that we can print and deficit spend at will without any fiscal or economic complications. So, central banks held interest rates at zero, forcing markets to accept absurdly low rates. At the same time, these central banks printed massive amounts of money and absorbed a lot of this new debt themselves. MMTers said we could do this with no inflation. Clearly they were wrong. Friedman taught us exactly what would happen, and it did. Inflation took off. The result, central banks were forced to raise rates and stop expanding their balance sheets. So far, governments have resisted fiscal sanity and are still running massive deficits even though central banks stopped funding them. The result? In the past 3 months, 10-year bond yields are up 50 bps in the UK, 90 bps in France, 72 bps in the US, and more than 40 bps in Germany. Governments were already too big in 2008, but this crazy experiment over the past 18 years has pushed things toward a breaking point. France proposes to freeze government pay and pensions, and raise some taxes and we should expect more movement toward austerity in other countries soon. MMT is basically Keynesianism on steroids. It didn’t work. The fix is a revival of Austrian, supply-side economics. Smaller governments, lower tax rates, tighter money, and less regulation. Some will say this is a pipe dream. But it is the only way out.

I know this might be hard to believe, but total implied US oil demand on a 4-week average is at a 5-year high for this time of the year. We are going to need prices to go a lot higher to kill demand.
