Pippa Middleton and her husband have won a battle to stop part of their Berkshire estate driveway being recorded as a public footpath. ❌
But what happens if walkers have been cutting across your land for years? Agriculture solicitor Esther Woolford says that, in some circumstances, 20 years of use can lead to a public right of way claim.
She explains why signs making clear that access is by permission, and a statement lodged with the local authority, could help landowners protect their land.

I hope everyone understands a bit more after reading this and that @APHAgovuk change the way that they are dealing with it, as we cannot keep going as are.

Former Prime Minister Lord @David_Cameron has urged farmers and rural communities to “stand together and fight” for the countryside. 🪧🚜
Speaking at a @CAupdates Westminster rally calling for an immediate ‘rural reset’, he said people did not have to be farmers to care about the family farm tax or the future of rural life.
🗣️ Former Labour Home Secretary Lord Blunkett also told the rally that the family farm tax was a “mistake”.

🚨 Just 25 complaints were made to England’s Tenant Farming Commissioner in his first year, with only six formally resolved.
But Alan Laidlaw insists those figures do not tell the full story, arguing that informal intervention is helping landlords and tenants settle disputes before they reach costly arbitration.
Speaking exclusively to Farmers Guardian, he discusses strained relationships, succession disputes, rent reviews and why rebuilding trust cannot be rushed.

Efra Committee chair Alistair Carmichael challenged Prime Minister Andy Burnham over allowing British farmers to compete with food produced to lower standards. 🚨
Mr Burnham said a Brazilian beef ban was “on the table”, but argued the Government could first do more to put British farm produce into schools, hospitals, prisons and other public institutions.
Is stronger public procurement enough, or should the UK match the EU ban?
