We are absolutely gutted that Portsmouth has not been shortlisted for City of Culture 2029. We believed in this bid and in everything it represents for our great city, so this is a hugely disappointing outcome.
Regardless of the news, we respect the independent panel’s decision and know the city's bid has already restored a real sense of pride and belonging in the place we call home. With local people, artists, community groups and cultural organisations coming together to show what makes Portsmouth so special it was our privilege to fire the starting gun for the process.
We would like to pay particular tribute to the team at Portsmouth Creates for their hard work, passion and commitment throughout the bid process, doing justice to our city's incredible story.
We know that our community will continue to take pride in our maritime heritage and history, our artists and strong community spirit. We share this pride in Portsmouth and that is why we backed this bid every step of the way.

🌍 G7 agriculture ministers have met in Paris to discuss how farmers can be better protected from growing global pressures, including conflict, economic uncertainty and extreme weather.
Fertiliser supplies, soil health and better nutrient management were among the key priorities, with ministers looking at ways to make farming and food production more resilient to future crises.
UK Farming Minister Stephen Morgan said 'food security is national security', highlighting the importance of protecting farmers and strengthening supply chains.

Avec mes homologues du G7 et le commissaire européen @CHansenEU, nous avons travaillé sur la réduction de nos dépendances, l’efficacité des intrants et la préservation des sols et des ressources, notamment l’eau.
Nous donnons aussi une nouvelle impulsion à la coopération scientifique, avec le dialogue des hauts responsables scientifiques agricoles du G7, pour faire émerger des priorités communes et des réponses concrètes aux défis de demain.
