But thats exactly why standards have fallen
We hide behind our big club status built on those that came before
We've not won a PL in 13 YEARS
We spend more time trying to get back to those glory days rather than building a modern day dynasty
The present is leaving us behind

I never get to talk about this outside of work!
I actually agree that the game creates the numbers, not the other way around.
Where I think we differ is epistemologically.
Let me explain.

Conte is a PERSONALITY
Conflict will be unavoidable
This is the improvement of the floor Im talking about though
He'll definitely drag it upwards
He's a winner and will demand that mentality
But there's a limit to as how far that can go...

🚨🗣️ 𝗡𝗘𝗪: Ashley Young believes Antonio Conte would be a DISASTER at Manchester United! 😳
🗣️ "If they're not going to run and Antonio Conte goes in there, it's going to be a disaster, I think."
🗣️ "You're gonna run a lot, you'll be fitter than you've ever been."
🗣️ "The training sessions were a lot of 11 v 11, at times a little bit boring."
🗣️ "Meetings were long. When I say long, I'm talking, if we lost the game, we could go in and do the meeting after the game and it'd stop literally everything."
🗣️ "And you could be in there for three, four hours."
🗣️ "He tries to test mentally – but the board as well, and the owners, and I think that people get annoyed with him."

🚨 Lisandro Martínez statement. ⤵️
Following everything that has been said about my comments yesterday, I want to share some thoughts on what I said and how I feel.
After the match, I spoke out of anger and frustration at not getting the result we all wanted.
Those who know me know how I live football, with passion, commitment and a huge desire to win.
And when things don’t go our way, it hurts, especially when representing a club with the history and stature of Manchester United.
My words reflect how I feel and how much I want to see this club competing for the biggest honours. Those high standards are part of how I see football and the responsibility that comes with wearing this shirt.
When I talk about wanting more, I’m talking about the ambition we must all have as part of this club. To keep growing, to become stronger and to have everything we need to compete at the highest level. These are standards we must all hold ourselves to, starting with me.
I know that, first and foremost, it’s us, the players, who have to deliver, and I put myself at the front of that responsibility. We need to demand even more of ourselves and work together to take Manchester United back to the top.
I believe in my teammates, our manager and everyone working to help this club move forward. I’m convinced that the way forward is to keep working together, with ambition and commitment.
My goal has been the same since day one, to win, to compete at the highest level and to give everything I have for this badge.

From the time the going got tough Carrick was in trouble
What he offered last season is not what he offers now
People liked the results not the project hes trying to sell now
Now that the results aren't good fangs will be shown very quickly
Hopefully he can survive this patch
Portugal boss Jorge Jesus has doubled down on the Cristiano Ronaldo situation 😳:
🗣️ "I can promise whatever I want. I'm the coach, right?
I'm the coach who told the player, 'You weren't going to play. I'll put you on the bench. If I need you for 30 minutes, then you'll play. If I don't need you, then you won't play'
Cristiano isn't going to, and no player will ever change my ideas as a coach. Never. Right?
Not him, not anyone in football. Not him. Not anyone. Not any president. Never. Zero."

New players 🤝 underperformance
In the Premier League this season, the teams who have more new players have started off worse than the teams who have favoured continuity.

Where Premier League teams or their opponents control possession 🔎
Tottenham exert greater control across most of the pitch, dominating territory in a similar fashion to teams such as Arsenal and Manchester City.

Problem with M2m is your shape being pulled by movement
1. Here we can see our 4-3-3 defensive shape, Mbeumo drops but Rashford doesn't leaving Shaw in a 2v1 backpost
AND once again the space behind Shaw opens up like against Everton

Here's an email template to use for the associated sponsors and businesses linked with INEOS, the Glazers and United too:
Hello,
My name is (Name), and I am a Manchester United supporter.
I am writing as part of a growing supporter-led campaign calling for meaningful change in the ownership and direction of Manchester United.
Manchester United is one of the biggest football clubs in the world, and its commercial partners benefit enormously from the loyalty, attention and spending power of its global fanbase. That relationship works both ways.
As an official partner of Manchester United, your company is directly associated with the club, its leadership and its ownership. When supporters believe the club is being poorly managed and that their concerns are being disregarded, that association inevitably becomes a reputational issue for its commercial partners as well.
We are therefore asking you to take the concerns of Manchester United supporters seriously and to raise them directly with the club’s senior leadership and ownership.
We also ask you to consider whether continuing to publicly associate your brand with the current direction of Manchester United is consistent with your company’s values and the reputation you have built.
Supporters should not have to repeatedly protest, boycott and campaign simply to have their concerns acknowledged. If the club’s commercial partners remain silent, they risk being viewed by supporters as willing participants in — or beneficiaries of — a situation that the fanbase is increasingly unwilling to accept.
Please forward this email to the person responsible for your Manchester United partnership, sponsorship, marketing, corporate affairs or senior leadership team.
We hope you will listen to Manchester United supporters rather than simply continue business as usual.
Best regards,
(Name)

My fears are being realized
The warning signs were there from since he first came out talking about "dominate"
There's a fine line between bravery and stupidity
Trying to play such a drastically different style with only one starter addition was never going to end well
Replying to @FOBSVR
A play style is achieved by a squad that is capable of it
Reports suggest Carrick wants to "dominate" games
Now IS the time to build a squad capable of that ideal...
However the change has to be incremental
Drastic change can ruin momentum and derail the plan entirely

It doesn't make sense to me 🤦🏾♂️
The midblock had them men ACTUALLY looking competent defensively last season - gone
More direct style gave us space to attack and use the attackers pace - gone
Replaced with M2m press with two SLOW DMs and slow passing and noone to break it down

This is what I mean
The patterns of play we did against Brighton were not one off
We've been doing them all season
Only difference is the players involved
We REALLY need to appreciate Licha and Mainoo a lot more

Carrick has fallen to the possession trap
One of our biggest problems otb has been we do not USE the ball well
Our players are unproductive and inefficient
Movement uncoordinated and sluggish
Carrick has improved how MUCH of the ball we have but has not improved HOW we use it
