Scientist @FrediOtto: "The continuing increase in global avg temperature is causing higher probabilities of extreme weather."
Translator @MrNishKumar: "Bad weather used to mean 'don't forget your umbrella.' Now, it means 'possible death.'"
Brilliant!

#WSC2023 keynote speaker Dr. Madlene Nussbaum highlighted that soil is now finally on the polical agenda📑.
However, "approximations of complex soil properties and a lack of high-resolution soil data leads to uncertainty in soil function data provided to the policy-makers"

#SoilBiodiversity is a nature-based solution to many of the global challenges facing humanity.
Yet, it is threatened by unsustainable soil management practices, erosion, pollution, urbanization & more.

Fantastic blog by fellow COP27 attendee @FerrandoNerea with @WalkerInst. "despite some successes such as the #LossAndDamage fund, the simple truth is that the final text proposed at #COP27 is not a clear #commitment to #1.5°C" Couldn't agree more!

#COP27 has taken an important step towards justice.
I welcome the decision to establish a loss and damage fund and to operationalize it in the coming period.
Clearly this will not be enough, but it is a much-needed political signal to rebuild broken trust.

🌡️🐘 The climate and biodiversity emergencies amplify each other so must be solved together.
As we enter the last day of #COP27, we need to urgently phase out #FossilFuels and ramp up clean energy systems. #NaturebasedSolutions are a powerful ally to go with those efforts.

Attention decision-makers at #COP27
64% of people around the world believe climate change is a global emergency.
Now is the time to listen. #ClimateAction cannot wait.
