27 October 1941 | After an escape of a prisoner from Block 18a in Auschwitz I (in the picture) SS men chose 10 prisoners, Poles, to be starved in Block 11 cells.
These were:
Henryk Kozłecki (11278)
Jan Skierniewski (21157)
Władysław Maciąg (20908)
Józef Tomczak (21373)
Stanisław Kocek (21173)
Stefan Kiśniewicz (16189)
Zdzisław Witamborski (13882)
Franciszek Roller (21086)
Paweł Olszówka (21062)
Wacław Kieszkowski (14634)
Six of them died of starvation between 31 October and 10 November. Prisoners: Skierniewski, Tomczak, and Roller were shot on November 11 at the 'Wall of Death'.
Henryk Kozłecki (in the picture) was released from the bunker to the camp on 29 October. This is the only known case of the prisoner being released from the starvation bunker. He was executed by shooting on 14 June 1942.

Ukrainian border guards rescued a cat from the frontline in Druzhkivka, in Donetsk region.
They spotted it as they left their positions and took it to safety. It now lives with the crew.

On this day in 1904, a Czech Jewish woman was born. On 10 Jun 1942 she was deported from Prague to occupied Poland, on a transport routed via Lublin to Sobibór. She perished in the Shoah. Her name was Valerie Neumannová.

A unit used for ammonia production caught fire following the strike.
The plant produces ammonium nitrate, which is used in explosives manufacturing.

Viktoriia Ivashko, 9, was a young Ukrainian judoka from Kyiv who dreamed of becoming a champion. She trained at the Judo Master sports club and had already begun winning medals. On June 1, 2023, Viktoriia and her mother, Olga, were killed during a Russian missile attack while attempting to reach a bomb shelter
