Happy to share our recent paper: "Experimental implementation of a discrete-time quantum walk on biological networks." 🧬💻
We tackle a major bottleneck for current quantum computing.
[arxiv.org/abs/2602.24053] (1/4)
This approach, paired with symmetry-respecting postselection, allowed for several key technical outcomes on current quantum computers:
✅ Utilized 40 qubits
✅ Tested on real biology graphs
✅ Maintained >87% Hellinger fidelity. (3/4)
We also demonstrated a practical application using these quantum dynamics on PPI networks.
Kudos to the collaboration team: Dubovitskii, @boseomics, @LaxmiParida16, Maniscalco & Filippov. (4/4)

New paper out on arXiv (peer review pending, feedback welcome):
arxiv.org/abs/2601.15483
We tested quantum machine learning on real clinical urine culture antibiotic susceptibility data. Quantum doesn’t beat classical across the board, but does for certain antibiotics when the data complexity is right.
Importantly, we show how to identify those data regimes in advance, offering a practical roadmap for when quantum can add value in healthcare.
To our knowledge, first quantum application in urology and in antibiotic resistance. 🧬⚛️

Such sad news!
Sadly Peer Bork passed away.
My memory goes to the junior postdoc from east Berlin arriving to EMBL when bioinformatics was a dream and the future was to be discovered.
Happy images in a sad day.
My condescends his family & his large scientific network.

I want to run, I want to hide. I want to tear down the walls that hold me inside. 🌅
Beyond the labels, the lines on the map, and the names we give each other... there’s a place where we finally touch the flame.
Let’s go where the streets have no name. ✨ #U2
