Fixed your statement for you @DCPSChancellor: "Our plans were ILLEGAL"
From chancellor in article today:
He pointed to the difficulty posed by a labor board ruling, which said DCPS couldn't use info collected on a survey to determine who will work in person.
“Our plans were blocked,” Ferebee said

Appreciate finally admitting DCPS is NOT prepared to reopen but the ambiguity speaks volumes! What will it take to get a clear, sensible plan that has taken all stakeholders into account?? Where's the leadership? Our kids-our families-our co-workers deserve better than this!
DCPS will not open elementary schools on November 9 as planned. We have heard feedback from many in our community about #ReopenStrong plans, and we will use this moment to adjust our timeline and staffing plans for reopening. Read more: dcpsreopenstrong.com/updates…

This is great! Before schools are reopened, will @dcpublicschools share the analysis done at each school and info on repairs made at each individual school? What is the standard for air change that DCPS will ensure is met in every classroom?
DCPS is making a $24M investment to increase air change rates and filtration provided by HVAC systems to reduce airborne concentrations of COVID-19 and transmission risks in our schools. This includes 3,000 mobile medical grade HEPA filters for classrooms. dcpsreopenstrong.com/wp-cont…

The Bowser administration invested $4 million in grants for restaurants to winterize their outdoor dining, but can’t show the receipts on HVAC upgrades schools desperately needed BEFORE covid.

Remember this next time @MayorBowser @DCPSChancellor say @dcpublicschools has been in contact with our unions about returning...Standing up for students got this principal fired! Is this supposed to be a warning for the rest of us?? Our lives or our livelihood?? #onlywhenitssafe
We can confirm that @SWWHSA & @WallsAtFrancis Principal Trogisch was dismissed today.
We are working with our union partners, teachers, and parents on a response. #Solidarity

@MayorBowser @DCPSChancellor Failure to engage with the @WTUTeacher was negligent. To disregard the voices, concerns, lives of the very people you rely upon to make schools work shows a lack of respect and a lack of humanity. It’s immoral to go back. I will #OnlyWhenItsSafe

What does "collaboration" mean to you? Two meetings where you ignored us? A press conference? I just want to make sure we are using the same terms here. #ReopenStrong #OnlyWhenItsSafe
Extremely disappointed @DCPSChancellor @dcpublicschools are choosing to not actually engage w/ teachers and staff. Today's #ReopenStrong Staff Town Hall silenced teachers voices and lectured us on their prescribed solutions to the current serious situation we are in WITHOUT EVER
acknowledging our WTU MOA, without allowing us to see our peers questions, while only taking generic questions deemed worthy to elevate! A Town Hall is about community voice. Instead you chose to silence ours! #OnlyWhenItsSafe #teachersatthetable #whydoesntDCPScareaboutteachers

@DCPSChancellor Am I correct in understanding that as a departmentalized grade my responsibility would be to teach “cohort A” & “cohort B” for not only my “homeroom”, but the other homeroom in my grade level? Which would be approximately 40 students? #OnlyWhenItsSafe

@MayorBowser @DCPSChancellor Teachers are planners. We need time to create and plan effective instruction. We NEED to know what is happening more than 3 weeks before we are set to return! We deserve to know NOW.
#onlywhenitissafe #reopenstrong #teachersatthetable
Do you understand the amount of stress teachers are under? We are worrying not just about our students and co-workers but also our own children. Many of whom we already know will NOT be learning in-person this fall. #onlywhenitissafe #teachersatthetable
