A tiny ray of sunshine pierces through the gloom...
Our pastor made an interesting announcement at Mass this morning. Apparently, over the past few months, our bishop has been coming to him to learn how to offer the traditional Latin Mass, and the bishop will celebrate a High Mass for Midnight Mass at our parish this Christmas. While it seems most bishops are placing restrictions on the Latin Mass in their dioceses, this is the first time I've heard of one actively moving toward it rather than away from it. It is encouraging, and I'm grateful. Please pray for him.

«Moving away from legalism, let us be very clear what is happening: the Bishop is discouraging prayer in a church. It matters little if it is the prayer of St. Michael or another prayer, people praying after Mass is good. Having the faithful end Mass in communal thanksgiving rather than communal chatter (or running for the exits) is a good thing. I am indeed a radical in that I think prayer should be encouraged in church.
We then of course come to the real reasoning behind these changes: the Bishop is correct that such prayers after Mass fell out of favor after the Second Vatican Council with the liturgical reforms. They returned to parish life in the United States in the wake of the Theodore McCarrick scandal, where the most prominent cardinal of the post-conciliar era was exposed as a vicious sexual predator who enjoyed the protection of the hierarchy, most notably Pope Francis, who waved penalties imposed by his predecessor despite knowing of the gravity of the evidence against McCarrick.
While bishops of all stripes (who absolutely knew about all of this) expressed public statements of shock, horror and (most importantly) ignorance, the laity took matters into their own hands. They began publicly praying together after Mass in reparation for the scandal. It is true that Leo XIII originally instituted the prayers in the late 1800s for a resolution of “The Roman Question” about the independence of the Vatican. With that being solved in 1929, it was maintained by the priests and faithful as a way to still petition God and the heavenly court for assistance.
It is against this backdrop that Bishop Beckman complains. He is upset that, 60 years after these devotions fell out of favor, they have returned among the faithful, and he is fearful of that. That this is all happening within the Novus Ordo means nothing. If the faithful can revive dormant traditions here, what else can they revive elsewhere? Given the increasingly conservative and traditional bent of the laity (especially among young active laity and priests) this is no longer a phantom. Bishop Beckman is of a class of many bishops appointed by Pope Francis in the final years of his life who view themselves as the last of a dying breed: authentic sons of the Second Vatican Council who must correct the natural course of events in the Church away from them, with force of law if necessary. In the carrying out of that mission, they find themselves lost in minutiae and the trench warfare of small details.»

This is a tragedy in a time of grave disbelief.
“Nothing emboldens the wicked so greatly as the lack of courage on the part of the good.” - Pope Leo XIII (Who composed the St. Michael’s Prayer after experiencing a terrifying vision in 1884 of Satan attacking the Church).
*By the way, John Paul the Second encouraged the use of this prayer in the 1980s.
Our local bishop is banning the St Michael prayer from the end of Mass.
His article, in the local Catholic paper, explains that in order to celebrate the liturgy “in accordance with the mind of the Church” priests need to “catechize the people of God as we move away from additional prayers recited together immediately before, during, and immediately after Mass.”

"It is said that Christianity, if it is to survive, must face the modern world, must come to terms with the way things are in the sense of the current drift of things.
It is just the other way around: If we are to survive, we must face Christianity.
The strongest reactionary force impeding progress is the cult of progress itself, which, cutting us off from our roots, makes growth impossible and choice unnecessary.
We expire in the lazy, utterly helpless drift, the spongy warmth of an absolute uncertainty.
Where nothing is ever true, or right or wrong, there are no problems; where life is meaningless we are free from responsibility, the way a slave or scavenger is free.
Futility breeds carelessness, against which stands the stark alternative: against the radical uncertainty by which modern man has lived – as in a game of Russian roulette, stifled in the careless “now” between the click and the explosion, living by the dull grace of empty chambers – the risk of certainty."

Watching this testimony and I’m stunned.
Nicolas Hulscher just laid out the raw numbers from the largest vaccinated vs. unvaccinated birth cohort study to date — the one Henry Ford refused to even show up and discuss. He says all 22 chronic disease categories were proportionally higher in the vaccinated children.
Yet the CDC still recommends the full childhood schedule. The FDA still approves these products.
How are parents supposed to feel confident giving the entire schedule when this is the picture being painted and no one from the other side will even sit in the room and answer questions?

In the early 1960s, I remember my mother throwing herself on her bed and crying over her parent's divorce that had happened before I was born. Three decades later, when her stepmother died, she prayed her father would get back together with her mother. Then, another decade, when her father died, she knew it would never happen. She had hoped to the very end.
The vast majority of children survive divorce but they never get over it. Parents just assume they get over it. The world assumes they get over it.
Divorce has done as much as anything to destroy our society, but no one wants to admit it.

From @JaniceFiamengo : "Cornell and Feminism’s New Normal: The mobilization of political hatred accelerates"
FTA: "The nature of what feminism aims for has become clearer with each high-profile sexual assault case over the past decade, and it has little to do with the nuances of consent or the effects of alcohol: these are merely accessories in the feminist drive for the existential power to define reality."
