Only 30 Days until College Football kicks off in the State of Iowa. Every day at SGI we are counting down the days to kick off by sharing fun facts about Iowa NAIA, D3, D2 and FCS teams that play College FB.
Today's fun fact is about @DrakeBulldogsFB who have been playing football in Des Moines since 1893. In 1930 the Bulldogs played the Oregon Ducks at Soldier Field in the first night football game ever in Chicago. The Ducks won by 7 that night.
The Bulldogs have been playing in historic Drake Stadium since 1925 which is one of the oldest CFB stadiums in America.
The Bulldogs open their 2026 season at home in DSM 30 days from now on Thursday August 27th.
