📍 Investment, integrity and inclusive development: Reflections from Day Two of #WIF2026 Doha, Qatar | 25–27 October 2026 How do we turn investment into sustainable development? At the World Investment Forum 2026, several developments stood out to us at @ForIntegrityOrg (YIB). 1. Modernising investment rules UNCTAD launched its Guiding Principles for International Investment Agreements Reform and announced technical assistance to help developing countries improve investment facilitation, transparency and procedures. The lesson? Investment commitments need effective institutions and practical reforms to deliver results. 2. Advancing women’s entrepreneurship The 2026 UNCTAD Empretec Women in Business Awards celebrated women entrepreneurs across leadership, sustainability, innovation and technology. Uganda’s Sandra Letio of Pelere Group Limited was recognised for building an agribusiness working with over 5,000 smallholder farmers. This is a reminder of the potential of locally rooted enterprises to strengthen livelihoods and expand economic opportunities. 3. Investing in the digital economy The United Nations Investment Promotion Awards recognised agencies and a special economic zone for attracting investment in the digital economy. For YIB, this reinforces the importance of ensuring that digital transformation translates into accessible opportunities for young people and underserved communities. What does this mean for Kenya? Our work in integrity building, civic engagement and community accountability reminds us that development depends not only on resources, but also on transparent decisions, accountable institutions and meaningful public participation. At #WIF2026, we are learning, exchanging ideas and initiating connections that we hope will grow into practical collaborations supporting inclusive, accountable and community-led development. 📍 Igniting Integrity, One Choice at a Time | #ChanukaNaDigiSkills Corruption is rarely sustained by one act alone. It can thrive through everyday compromises, unchecked power, silence, weak accountability, and systems that allow wrongdoing to go unchallenged. 𝐒𝐨, 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐭 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝 𝐚 𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲? During our #Integrity_Session with Cluster 9, we went beyond defining integrity. We challenged assumptions, examined real-life examples of corruption from grassroots communities to global systems, and explored how our choices can enable corruption or help prevent it. At the heart of the conversation was our integrity formula: 𝐈 = 𝐚(𝐀 + 𝐂 + 𝐄) − 𝐜 Answerability. Competence. Ethical behaviour. Strengthened by anti-corruption mechanisms. We connected these principles to responsible AI use, ethical decision-making, and Ubuntu, the recognition that our humanity is bound up with that of others. This work matters. As the global anti-corruption community focuses on igniting integrity and exposing the links between corruption and crime, young people must be equipped not only to recognise wrongdoing, but to question, challenge, and help change the conditions that allow it to persist. 📍From community realities to continental policy: Advancing water justice and accountability. @ForIntegrityOrg (YIB) was represented at the @AU_ECOSOCC E-Symposium on Water and Sanitation, contributing perspectives from Kilifi County, Kenya, through our Kilifi Women for Water Justice Initiative. During the discussions, we raised important questions about accountability in water investments, the role of community-generated data in informing water budgets and service delivery, and the need to ensure that women and young people can see how their contributions influence decisions. One message resonated throughout the symposium: water security is not achieved simply by building infrastructure. It requires sustainable financing, effective governance, community participation and accountability for the services people actually receive. 📍Kilifi Women for Water Justice Initiative (#KW4WJ) | Women’s Healing Circles Water insecurity doesn’t just leave taps dry; it can leave women emotionally exhausted, overwhelmed and unheard. Through our #WaterWithIntegrity campaign and the Women’s Monthly Healing Circles, we are creating safe, supportive spaces where women can share their experiences, find strength in one another, and navigate the emotional and social burdens of water insecurity. Because water justice is about more than access to water. It is about women’s dignity, wellbeing and the right to be heard.
