"We need to start tucking into the edible bounty that we've created" - Miles Irving (@ForagerLtd), referring to opportunistic edible wild plants growing on disturbed ground. Loving this course - inspired me to make the leap from grazer to gatherer learningwithexperts.com/food…

The mallow plant in French is ‘mauve’, & this is where the colour derives its name. Discovered in 1856, the colour became so popular that the 1890s were known as the ‘mauve decade’. As for mallow, the ancients often used it in erotic potions. #FolkloreThursday Img: Cicely Barker

These incredibly beautiful rowan berries just arrived at the Wolf. Many thanks to Denny at @ForagerLtd for these locally foraged berries. A key ingredient on the ‘Amulet’, on our Winter ‘19 menu (dropping tomorrow eve!)

Ingenious Miles Irving @ForagerLtd has created a box scheme featuring wonders from the wild. This is Birch Sap with Cleavers & Sloe Blossom to be drunk through dandelion straws! Our ancestors knew spring meant the trees filled with H2O sugar & minerals + tapped it to make syrup. – at Cheltenham, England

Okay, this isn’t a marine otter, it’s their relative the Eurasian otter, they mostly use fresh water but will forage in saltwater & are quite famous for doing so around the Scottish coast. Where there are sometimes orcas. Maybe they should be more careful 4/5 #2019MMM #TeamOtter

There's plenty of natural healthy food for wild boar in the forest. Don't share yours! Boar quickly abandon their foraging habit to raid bins and cause hazards on the roads. And our food can introduce devastating disease! #KeepWildBoarWild @NatPigAssoc @APHAgovuk @ForestryComm
