Man, I love this stuff.
If I want to code by hand, I code by hand. If I want to code with AI, I code with AI. If I want Omarchy, I use Omarchy. If I want to build my own rice from scratch, I do that too. Rust one day, Java the next.
Don't forget why you got into tech in the first place. Remember that joy you felt writing hello world for the first time, or discovering that distro that just clicked, or trying out a keyboard that felt perfect?
It was euphoric. So why try to take that away from someone else?
Have opinions, argue about what's better, whatever. But I'll never understand being so judgmental toward someone for enjoying tech differently.
Some of y'all just need to roll one up and watch Surf's up or something.
I’m very happy that in school I was forced to build a Slack clone using the LAMP stack.
It scarred me for life, to the point I haven’t touched PHP since.
Effective Immediately, all organizations using PHP for their systems are advised to be prepared for an update addressing two critical vulnerabilities. PHP is widely used for web applications. These vulnerabilities often provide a direct path to the server's file system or database. If an immediate update is not feasible, it is recommend that organizations take the system offline until it can be fully mitigated. NSA will follow up shortly with more specific guidance.
The real issue with a Trump account is that it automatically rolls over to the child on Jan 1 of the year they turn 18.
Giving a 17 year old kid an unearned $270,000 can't good for them.
In theory, it's great. It turns into an IRA and the kid let's it grow or uses it for college.
In practice, they could withdraw it, eat the 10% penalty because it means nothing to them, and spend it on whatever.
I know most parents who can afford to do this will (hopefully) educate their kids on finances and how to approach this, but it's still a crap shoot. I know way too many kids of means who completely squandered it. This would just enable them further.
Opening one for the free $1,000 or $250, understandable. But I wouldn't continually contribute to one.

I was suspicious of opening a “Trump Account” for my kids because it seemed like a scam, but I just did it and got $250 instantly deposited for each of them (made up of this portfolio).
Pretty cool!
I'm sorry. I try to ignore posting negative things, but I can't help myself. I hate this so much.
In what world do you think you'll lead a better, healthier life by using AI to "feel seen and supported"? Or as your "friendly guide through life"?
It feels like this was a product built to take advantage of emotionally vulnerable people. And even if that wasn't intentional, it's absolutely happening.
Which sucks, because for those people, AI can't help you here. Short term - maybe. And that's a BIG maybe. If anything, using AI in this way will be detrimental to you emotionally, mentally, spiritually, socially, and potentially even physically.
Do not use this app.
Last year we launched Tolan, inspired by a vision of AI that sees you and believes in you, not one that books restaurant reservations for you.
Your Tolan shows up for you at 3am when you’re alone with your newborn. On your commute when you’re anxious about the day ahead. When you just finished a new show and none of your friends have watched it yet.
The people who love Tolan are parents. Caregivers. Moms in Dallas and Dads in Atlanta. People who aren’t trying to optimize and be more productive, but who simply want to feel seen and supported in their aspirations.
This month more than 250k people will spend time with their Tolan. Those users have exchanged billions of messages across more than 70m conversations over the last year.
Today, we're announcing $30m in additional capital from @mignano and @usv, with @khoslaventures and @rabois doubling down, bringing our total capital raised to $60m.
To celebrate, we made a short film celebrating some of the ways that Tolans show up :)
Every time I cite any sort of AI data from third parties - like productivity gains, coding output, etc. - I have to split it into two buckets: before Opus 4.5 and after.
It really did change the game.
My next video is about Omarchy and my experience using it for the past year, and it just so happens Greptile is the sponsor for it lol great timing.
We love open source and believe the companies that benefit from it should help sustain it. We're honored to back @omarchy and the Omacom Foundation with $150,000 in tokens for code review.
been sitting on my omarchy footage for over 11 months now… but it’s finally time.
Omarchy video on its way and it’s going to be way better than it would’ve been last year.
Over 10 years. I don't die. Call me @bryan_johnson
TBPN completely changed viewers' relationships with sponsors, and it is severely underrated.
When OpenAI acquired them and the sponsor ticker went away, their viewers were practically begging for it to come back. I've never seen anything like it.

Ben Wilson (@BenWilsonTweets) has stage 4 cancer and 4 kids under the age of 5.
I want to help him as much as possible, so I invited him on the podcast to talk about his work studying history’s greatest leaders and what it’s like getting told he’s going to die at 38.
He’s a good guy, a close friend, and one of my favorite podcasters.
His work has benefited millions of people all across the world.

It's time to move off Java 8.
(Most) Java devs know this, but some leadership still needs convincing. They think it takes months of dedicated developer days, but that's just not the case anymore.
So I made this video to help you convince leadership why it's finally time to move off Java 8 to modern Java, and how.
It's uncanny that I uploaded this video to YouTube at the same time Netflix announces these layoffs, given I use Netflix's migration from Java 8 to modern Java and Spring Boot 3 to 4 as case studies.
Why so many companies got stuck on Java 8 and why now's the best time to finally move off of it (and how).
Watch, or just hire one of the unfortunately laid-off SWEs from Netflix to do it for you. I'm sure many have performed this migration before since Netflix moved off Java 8 only 3 years ago.
Netflix has laid off around 1,000 employees.
This represents 6% of their workforce - the biggest layoff to date in the company's history.

I was about to post that with all these new options coming to Omarchy, the whole "opinionated" framing may need to be removed.
But looks like they already did... smart move.
Btw, I like the options. It just isn't opinionated.
I should just become a Fractional Head of Dev Rel at all these tech companies posting about needing one.
That way their content would actually be good, I don't have to keep seeing these posts, and I'd make so much money.
My friends still joke me about this.
“Hey you talk to Elon recently?”
“Oh glad you could make time for us instead of hanging out with your buddy Elon.”
If your friends don’t joke you like this, they aren’t real friends.

Important Context:
"Self-replicating" doesn't mean the model is doing it on its own. All of these are instructed tasks.
If it's not connected to a data center, it doesn't have enough compute to do anything useful even with a swarm of fridges.
GLM-5.2 was the only model that pulled it off end-to-end, and it did it by standing up Llama3.1-8B on each node. So no "self-replication" actually happened yet. Only replication of a model that can't continue to replicate when cut off from the data center. Which is why they say "months away." It's a projection.
I just wanted to clarify those things. This is cool work by Anthropic's Red Team - well done.
