Without question @ChuckGrassley should resign ASAP to allow @KimReynoldsIA to appoint his successor before it's too late. And it's beyond self-centered if not immoral for him not to. Father Time will eventually come for Chuck, too.
This is 100% true. Out of the currently floated candidates he’s the best one IMO.
I know people have very passionate opinions about Ron DeSantis after his 2024 campaign... Which was a mistake, and was one of the worst campaigns I have seen in recent memory...
But we'd be foolish to exclude DeSantis from the 2028 conversation.
It's about results. And he has more than delivered in Florida.
DeSantis needs to be part of the conversation.
Out of the potential candidates being floated CURRENTLY, I believe he’s the best one.

The last two weeks have been full of ups and downs.
I delivered my son. Then had a spinal leak. My son had a bris and then was admitted to the NICU with RSV and pneumonia that night and eventually intubated.
I’ve now been by his side in the hospital for four days. He’s still in the worst of it.
My family has felt so blessed by everyone’s prayers. Health is everything. Looking forward to the day where I can hold my baby again.
Hopefully the whining about mean tweets and Orange Man Bad was worth it
We have a lot of work to do now, praying as well that these lunatics won’t be able to help themselves and massively overreach
I genuinely hope he will be more normal when he gets to DC.

NEW: Democrats rammed through judges in the lame-duck Senate in 2024.
Republicans must learn from their example and confirm all of President Trump's judges before January 3rd.
Tell your senators: Confirm All Judges NOW.

People are asking how the @GOP rebuilds after this week's bloodbath. Here's some data of a community I think is perfect for @datarepublican to look into.
I am pretty sure she is the only person that can knock sense into people!
Some people on here are not going to like this (like with her chart showing AIPAC donation correlations yesterday), but math is math.
The Orthodox Jews.
Take just ONE boys school & ONE girls school (yes, they are not co-ed). Every year, about 50 boys & 50 girls graduate, & a few years later they marry each other. So every year adds 50 new couples.
In this data set, we will start the marriages in 2016 (they can vote for Trump for the first time) & go through 2068 (Oldest couple still in young to mid 70's). This ignores everyone else in the community, & all the growth it has. Two schools. Their graduating classes each year.
Each couple has ~5 kids, about 2 years apart. The kids marry around 21 (19 for girls - 23 for boys) & have 5 of their own.
Stack up every year's class, plus all their kids/grandkids.
Eligible voters:
2016 - 100
2040 - 3,600
2056 - 12,900
2068 - 30,050
Remember, nobody else counted. Only thing I added is that when the kids/grandkids get married, their spouse comes from outside this group.
Now to explain why this thought exercise is so important. Orthodox voters went 74% Trump in '24, & the Yeshivish/Chassidish (really anyone not super Modern Orthodox) voters are really closer to 90% Republican. Even the super Modern Orthodox are leaving the Democrats because of their embrace of DSA, hate of Israel, etc. So, expect all Orthodox to move up closer to the 90%.
At 75%, that's ~22,500 GOP votes in '68 from the yearly graduating classes of just two schools. This means you have two schools from '16 - '68, that produce 2,650 couples. That's a base of 5,300 people of the 30,050. The other 24,750 are their kids, grandkids, & spouses.
Now multiply that by every Orthodox school in Brooklyn, Lakewood, Monsey, Five Towns, Baltimore, Cleveland, Chicago, LA and Miami. And all the new places that will pop up as our communities grow.
By 2080, just the couples of '16 to '62 made up of 4,700 graduates (last year where couples have children eligible to vote) will have grown to 64,500 voters, with the first generation of GREAT-grandchildren voting!
Just 2 schools. One boys. One Girls.
We are one of the fastest-growing, most reliably Republican voting blocs in America. We marry young & have kids. Well over replacement levels. And we educate them outside of the public school system.
This is not an opinion. It's just math.
But hey, continue to vilify us, and hate us, and drive us out of the party. Makes perfect sense.
This week isn’t all that bad

We got crushed on Tuesday and it sucks.
But we cleared out a LOT of dead weight from the GOP.
That gives us an opportunity to rebuild it with patriots.

You say Texas is blue, I say it’s just bruised. People wanted change in their daily lives, and rightfully so. But Dems will not stay in power unless they become a lot more like Republicans. Texans are still Texans. Dems will moderate or they’ll be out of power here.

Seriously,
When the war ends, will anyone hold this hysterical propagandist accountable for convincing 100 million people that Trump plans to use nuclear weapons in Iran?

🚨 I call on Gov. Abbott to IMMEDIATELY convene a special session to REIN IN EXECUTIVE EMERGENCY POWERS… before Gina Hinojosa is sworn in!
Republicans lost last night, but Democrats were not sworn in.
We still have total power in Texas, and we must act like it by using the remaining ten weeks to restore separation of powers and limit the emergency powers that Governor-Elect Hinojosa is set to inherit, which would allow her to destroy liberty in Texas by executive fiat.
I’ve warned since I was first elected that NO governor, Republican or Democrat, should have unchecked emergency powers!
Now that Texas has elected a Democrat Governor, the urgency is undeniable… and inaction is intolerable.
Without action, Governor Hinojosa will inherit the powers of a DICTATOR.
Due to the absurd (and almost certainly unconstitutional) Texas emergency powers laws, Gov. Hinojosa will literally have the power to modify laws, ignore laws, or create and enforce laws – including criminal laws – on a whim!
Today is a day for ACTION, and bold leadership.
The Texas Legislature must immediately pass, and Governor Abbott must sign, legislation like HB911, which I filed in 2022 and warned at the time, that “Never ending emergency powers are antithetical to representative government and render people powerless. Legislative bodies allowing a single executive branch official to both write and enforce laws is the biggest threat to our constitutional system of divided government and should be opposed irrespective of which political party runs the executive branch.”
My legislation would protect liberty from executive fiat by, among other things, taking the following actions:
1. Prohibit the Governor from suspending or modifying statutes
2. Sunset emergency orders in 30 days if the legislature does not ratify the order
3. Prohibit the governor from reissuing emergency orders that expired or the legislature rejected
4. Require emergency orders to be narrowly tailored
5. Subject emergency orders to expedited judicial review
We have TEN WEEKS LEFT to protect Texas from near total Democrat rule.
I encourage every elected Republican in Texas to join my demand for Gov. Abbott to call a special session.
The future of liberty in America is literally on the line in Texas, and Texans deserve leadership that acts accordingly.

Voter ID won even in the wave
Ohio: voter ID +31.
Nevada: +25.
North Carolina: +20.
In a blue tsunami.
But sure, keep telling me voter ID is “Jim Crow 2.0.” The voters didn’t get the memo.

To compete in 2028, Republicans must recruit younger, more energetic candidates for the House and Senate who are skilled at social media and effective communication in the digital campaigning era.

“Exit polls show that of the 51% of voters who said our support for Israel was "too strong," only 19% of even that subset of respondents were Republican. The vast majority of GOP voters said our support for Israel was "just right" or "not strong enough."
This is a total hoot.
About the only thing it gets correct is that 2024 Trump voters were "pissed." As the polls spell out, very clearly, they were angry about tariffs--a word weirdly not found in this post, but which exit polls showed 65% of voters dislike. There's a straight line between those punishing costs and Senate losses in Kansas, Iowa, Ohio (farm areas) and beyond.
Angry the WH instead spent this past year talking about ballrooms and the Kennedy center. Frustrated by the complete absence of a next-two-year agenda (85% are concerned by healthcare costs. Where is the GOP plan?)
They are also unhappy about the war, though the numbers might be different if the president been clear about an exit strategy. And not sure where the "smartest" (and most anonymous) pollster in the world got the Israel argument. Exit polls show that of the 51% of voters who said our support for Israel was "too strong," only 19% of even that subset of respondents were Republican. The vast majority of GOP voters said our support for Israel was "just right" or "not strong enough."
Amusing to claim the problem here was traditional conservatives, as they were sidelined. Tillis was run out of the party, dooming NC. As was Cornyn. The WH had a pure expression of its second-term Trump/Vance agenda and loyalty in its chosen candidate of Ken Paxton. That would be the smoking carcass sitting on a 12-point loss in. . . Texas of all places. Meanwhile, who exactly is even talking about "asylum"? That's just a smear-y effort to preemptively shut down valid criticism.
The GOP strength has always been in its coalition--free-marketers, defense hawks, cultural conservatives. Trump's first-term success came from largely following that Reagan playbook. The second-term leaned into me-too progressive populism--at the veep's urging--and it ain't working.
The weird thing is that the veep remains more obsessed with remaking the party than with winning. Winning will require a lot better understanding of what happened yesterday than what is on offer in this alternate-universe view.
