Regarding yesterday, there were a lot of slcs I couldn’t confirm due to the amount of rain at the ground. However, I’ve attached my videos if it helps. The first was shot at 4:53 PM facing west toward Randolph. The second was shot at 4:56 PM. @NWSTwinCities @FOX9 @ian_leonard #mnwx #wxtwitter
I’d also note that in the video shot at 4:53 PM (between the 30 and 40-second mark), this small tendril can be observed with some more darkness at the ground beneath. Random opinion no one asked for, news stations using whatever their version of active weather days for so many different types of weather is not useful for public communication.
Example in my local market, they have “First Alert Weather Days”
In the last month or two, we have had them for:
Severe Weather
Fire Weather
Flood Advisory
Heat Advisory
Wind Advisory
Essentially, everything from a High Risk to gusty winds will receive the same messaging. How is that useful?
The mini 4 drone has been repaired. Its primary use will be capturing cinematic storm video when conditions are less favorable (stray sprinkles or light rain). I’m confident it can handle it. After its accident, it sat in shallow water for 20 minutes as I looked for it, and was easily repairable💀. The mini 5 will be used in safer flight conditions, and shots to maximize its dynamic range.

Not retiring the Mini 4, it’s just under repair (fooled around in sport mode by trees). Plus, I think the camera rotation feature will help enhance some of the cinematography.
