when ai takes my job, and neuralink controlled humans + humanoid robots roam the streets, you'll find me off in the countryside, as far from any of it as i can get, living a simple life with anyone else who chooses that path
i think Amish-maxxing will unironically become a massive status symbol in the AI era the more AI runs our lives, the more people will crave a slower / more physical one and the Amish have been living that life for 300 years: > the men walk about 18,000 steps a day (3x the average American) > only 4% of them are obese, even on a diet heavy on meat / potatoes / pie > they keep the phone in a shed at the end of the road, so nobody checks it at dinner > they go to bed when it gets dark and get up with the sun (circadian-maxxing) > they eat almost every meal together as a family > they have big families, usually 5 or more kids > they grow their own food and build their own houses & furniture with their hands > when a neighbor needs a barn, the whole community shows up and builds it in a day the Amish do actually still use some tech but before anything new comes in, the community asks one question: will this technology bring us closer together or pull us apart? which is probably the healthiest AI policy anyone has come up with lol

every product i use should just be a headless mcp, that feeds into an agent, where i never have to think about anything underneath. except for our product, of course. in our product, customers love the ui and love us very much. we're special that way.

smart people 1/ update their opinions and 2/ are humble enough to say it out loud
plot twist: after three days with the iphone duo, it's my favorite phone in years. the UI part is still a horrible mess, but this is the first truly new mobile device apple has made in decades. (more thoughts to come after at least a week with it, stay tuned)

another huge leap in real world ai use
We believe voice is the most natural way to interact with intelligence, so we created Dessa, the most authentic full-duplex speech model ever built. Talking with it feels like talking with a personโ€ฆfull of emotion, nuance, pauses, and a natural cadence. block.xyz/dessa

the time to act was 10 years ago the second best time is now
If this weekโ€™s cyberattacks have shown us anything, itโ€™s how absolutely necessary it is for the UK to have sovereign AI capabilities. This is now urgent. In the past, the most sophisticated hacking and cyberattack work required considerable expertise, time, and resources. Nation states, intelligence agencies and rogue hacking groups had a substantial advantage - a tiny, tiny number of people. Today, AI is able to rapidly identify these vulnerabilities, so it's much easier for hostile actors to point an AI at a certain piece of software and ask it to find potential exploits - including in the software that runs many of our key institutions across the public and private sectors. It is absolutely conceivable that Britainโ€™s hospitals, defence infrastructure, and national grid could be targeted in future cyberattacks. It's already being planned. If these were to be damaged or disabled as a result, thousands could die. If not more. It is therefore essential that we have the ability to defend ourselves - and the only way to do that is by developing AI sovereignty. Cybersecurity, and actually much of the global economy, will increasingly rely on AI. It will be an essential tool in combating these sophisticated cyberattacks, alongside skilled people and secure domestic infrastructure. As things stand, the dominant players are the US and China, but Britain is well positioned to become a serious third force in AI development. Outside the EU, we have the freedom to set our own domestic regulatory framework, and we could have some of the cheapest energy in the world if we implemented Restore Britainโ€™s energy security strategy. We cannot afford to be beholden to a foreign power for any of the essentials of life. Food, energy, defence and, increasingly, AI. We must build our own infrastructure and train our own models. We must equip our people with the skills to build this industry. Electricians, plumbers, construction workers, and software engineers. Done right, it can bring benefits to our people, but more importantly - the steps outlined here are absolutely essential for our national security.

We've decided to sunset Arc on December 22, 2026. That's not an easy sentence to write. We spent years building Arc and celebrating each and every release along the way: we have so much pride and love for what we made alongside the Arc community. Our priority is to deliver best-in-class security for our members. Keeping a browser secure takes constant, dedicated work that is only increasing in the age of AI. Dia was built from the ground up to meet todayโ€™s security standards, so that's where our engineering and security teams will focus moving forward. We've worked to make switching to @diabrowser as easy as possible for Arc members. Here's how: ยท Your passwords, bookmarks, extensions and history come over to Dia seamlessly. ยท Spaces, Folders, and Tab Groups are in Dia and import over with your data intact. ยท Dia now surpasses Arc benchmarks in stability, speed, and security. ยท The browser features you use in Arc are free in Dia, and the AI is optional. Thank you for using Arc, for pushing us to make it better, and for building alongside us. The team that made Arc is the same team behind Dia, and some of our most ambitious work is just ahead. We'd love for you to be there with us when it lands.

i didn't drink coffee habitually until this summer, when we bought our first coffee machine was concerned we'd develop a dependency, get headaches if we stopped drinking, create a trough of energy that required caffeine to get back to normal instead its just a delightful way to start the day, no noticeable withdrawal when skipping if away from home, only downside is an extra cost, but worth it for the ritual
I drink coffee every day and wake up refreshed and fine Because my sleep is great Just make sure to drink coffee before 3pm or so

My friend from Middle East about this video: "Iโ€™m afraid this is so true" "It is sooo so so true" "I just donโ€™t understand how they have not seen it coming itโ€™s confusingโ€ฆ like the entire European leadershipโ€ฆ no clue wtf" If you say this as a European you're instantly banished from any social setting in Western Europe, which is of course why all of this is happening!
