ON THIS DAY IN WEATHER DISASTER HISTORY — OCTOBER 26
Before smartphones. Before viral videos. Before everyone carried a camera.
🌊 1859 — BRITISH ISLES: The Royal Charter Storm devastates the coast. Approximately 800 dead and 133 ships lost. One of Britain's worst maritime weather disasters.
🌀 1865 — ATLANTIC COAST: A hurricane reportedly sinks the USS Mobile off Georgia, sending the ship and its cargo to the ocean floor.
🌀 1877 — FLORIDA: A late-October tropical storm strikes Florida's Gulf Coast, with winds estimated near 45 mph.
🥶 1919 — NORTHERN PLAINS: An extraordinary October cold outbreak sends temperatures below zero across the Dakotas and Minnesota. Miller, South Dakota, plunges to −10°F!
🌀 1952 — WESTERN PACIFIC: Super Typhoon Wilma rages with winds around 160 mph. A U.S. military weather reconnaissance aircraft disappears into the storm.
Five events. Nearly a century of weather history.
What didn't exist was a camera in every pocket broadcasting every disaster around the planet.
History didn't start with smartphones. Neither did severe weather.
REAL EVENTS. REAL HISTORY. A DAILY CURE FOR WEATHER AMNESIA.

Canada’s cheapest barrel just got a friend in Victoria.
British Columbia elected its first Conservative government since 1928, with about 2/3 of the 93 seats.
That matters for the $28 discount on Canadian heavy oil I wrote about.
The barrel is cheap because it has one big buyer, the US, and one pipe to the Pacific, Trans Mountain, already 98% full.
The outgoing government opposed new oil pipelines and locked in the northern tanker ban with Ottawa in July.
The new premier, Lorne Doerkson, welcomed Pacific Link, the 1m b/d pipe to the Vancouver coast, and wants a working group with Alberta and Ottawa.
Today federal Conservatives pushed a bill to scrap the tanker ban, CP reports.
Hear me out: Victoria can’t lift that ban alone. It’s federal law.
What moves is who sits across the table from Alberta.
I’m watching the Pacific Link open season next spring. That’s when producers show whether they’ll pay for the pipe.

Have policymakers in the EU, the UK and US states never heard of El Hierro?
A small island with 11,000 residents and plenty of wind. An ideal testing ground for the promise of 100% renewable electricity, before making millions of people depend on it.
They installed wind turbines with more than twice the island’s average electricity demand in capacity, plus pumped hydro storage. Yet in 2025, this system supplied just 44% of its electricity. Diesel supplied the rest.
@mhtncontrarian explains why: during prolonged periods of low wind, the upper reservoir empties. Then the diesel generators have to take over.
If this setup cannot deliver on its promise on a small, windy island, why are politicians so confident it will work on a vastly larger scale?
They keep pushing ahead, with millions of people’s electricity supply at stake.

We now see the full extent of preplanning and empire-building that went into the United Nations' global warming campaign.
It was all behind the scenes. Today, the UN has a workforce of roughly 190,000 and an annual budget of $3.45 billion. It has become a vast self-managing, self perpetuating bureaucracy - arguably the largest non-governmental network in the world. The UN had been laying the groundwork for an environmental crisis for decades before it was finally announced in 1988.
The UN took control of the World Meteorological Organization in 1951, transforming it into a specialised UN agency. The WMO operates with an annual budget of approximately $138.7 million and has a staff of 350 to 400.
The WMO bridges the gap between raw meteorological data, international political agendas and global news media - linking thousands of land stations, ocean buoys, aircraft and satellites. While its stated role is to share critical weather and water data, this massive infrastructure has been effectively co-opted into a public relations framework.
Consequently, the world has been bombarded with weather hysteria for almost 40 years. Mainstream news outlets routinely prioritise speculative, worst-case climate models over empirical observations - like 'rain bombs' - maintaining a permanent state of crisis designed to shape public compliance.
The information gathering agency, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, runs the scientific arm. It operates with a core secretariat of just 15 staff members and an annual budget of roughly $12.5 million. The IPCC was established 38 years ago, ostensibly as a neutral body to gather objective scientific information on climate.
In reality, the IPCC became the driving force behind the greatest environmental and social upheaval in modern history. Highly politicised from its inception, it was founded entirely by UN agencies - the WMO and the UN Environment Programme. This gave the UN absolute control over the global climate agenda and funded what has become the largest propaganda campaign in history.
The UN has also run annual fund raising COP summits around the world for 30 years. They have become junkets for the rich and privileged.
The IPCC did not recruit independent scientific staff; instead, its administrative apparatus actively sponsors and selects studies that supported the carbon dioxide hypothesis. Research raising questions or doubts are minimised or discarded. Critics find their studies starved of funding and publishers, while some even faced threats to their academic tenures.
Local weather outlets and national agencies now operate inside an ecosystem heavily influenced by these overarching, high-alarm targets, broadcasting continuous warnings of 'global boiling', catastrophic sea-level rise, and 'Code Red for Humanity' - with UN leadership acting as the chief amplifier. This environment birthed foundational, highly charged studies designed to lock in future warming projections.
For decades, the UN promoted only extreme scenarios. A prime example is the IPCC's reliance on high-end warming trajectories - such as projections warning of up to a 5.5-degree temperature rise - predictions so extreme that even mainstream scientists have increasingly conceded they are implausible.
Armed with a crisis of its own making, the UN called for the rapid dismantling of hydrocarbon fuels - coal, oil, and natural gas - the very energy sources that lifted humanity out of stagnation and powered the Industrial Revolution. Almost every aspect of modern civilisation, from transport networks to industrial manufacturing, relies entirely on these dense, inexpensive and reliable energy sources.
Climate management bears no relation to the UN’s foundational charter of resolving international conflict; it's a textbook case of bureaucratic mission creep.
The sheer complexity of this UN machinery, combined with an aura of technical authority, is precisely what insulates it from public scrutiny.

MISO just obliterated the capacity values for solar, storage, and wind.
Solar dropped to 10 percent in summer and 4.5 percent annualized by 2030.
A utility that retired coal for thousands of MW of renewables now has a reliability crisis.

A global survey published in the journal Nature in February 2024 found that less than 40 percent of the people asked in Canada and the United States would be prepared to spend one percent of their income to address climate change. Such findings stand in sharp contrast to what Canadians are already paying. [1% would be about $430 Canada] blog.friendsofscience.org/wp… The total federal and provincial expenditures on climate measures over the period 2020 to 2030 as listed by the Carbon Policy Tracker are $476 billion or $11,900 per resident of Canada. This equates to roughly $28,000 per household (i.e. an average of $2,800 per household per year). This is just what has been announced to date; there remain five more fiscal years before 2030 during which governments may add more initiatives.

These guys claimed their wind and pumped hydro setup would power an entire island with 100% renewables.
The highest share they ever hit in a full year was 56%.
It has been downhill from there.
They overbuilt the wind turbines by more than double and added big storage.
Still, calm spells drain the reservoirs and diesel takes over.
Bigger places keep charging ahead with the same plan anyway.

All climate models experience GIGO, which is why they all fail. Not one model can replicate past climate change - and thus none can forecast future climate change.
