I’d seen Pacific Emerald Doves around on this trip to Lord Howe Island — but not with camera in hand (mostly while riding my bike) .. up until this morning.
One flew into some bushes. Then another. Then they, um, went about their business without seeming too fussed by me 🤷♂️😂

Things have taken a tern for the better (a White Tern, in fact) now I’m holidaying on Lord Howe Island…

It was mostly an experiment in seeing if a cheque from my newly-opened account at “The First National Bank of Podunk, NE” (or whatever) would clear. I figured that bouncing a cheque at some god-bothering cow-college wouldn’t hit my US credit rating too badly.
But: it cleared 🤷♂️

In the period when people (on higher pay than me) were calling themselves “technical evangelists” for <insert BS product name> I tried to point out that at least I had an actual evangelical certificate 😂
(Nobody paid me even one cent extra ☹️ — I wasted my fifty bucks 🙄)

Hey: when I was living in Nebraska I obtained a Doctorate in Leadership. (Theological Leadership, at that!)
It cost me USD$49.99 (in 1996 dollars) — I sent ‘em a cheque, they sent me a Doctorate (well: a certificate, suitable for framing).
Simple 🤭

FWIW: (and whoops!) I think we’re both wrong — it’s neither a woodhen nor a swamphen but, rather, a moorhen (which is a different critter again) 🤷♂️

Sure is — I don’t know enough about them, but I see about a 4:1 (just guessing) ratio of females/immatures to each male in breeding plumage (?) so it’s a bit of a challenge to photograph adult/breeding males..
But this lovely fellow cooperated 😍

That sounds like it needs at least a full biscuit tin and three backup packets (at least one of which is hidden) 😂❤️
