Teams are stealing pitching and catcher coaches from the Yankees
You know why??
Because the Yankees are good at that....
You know what teams haven't stolen from a Yankees this decade??
front office people
Absolutely right.
Everywhere you look, there are opinions on Tuesday’s midterm election. On the left, it’s gleeful jubilation and on the right it’s elegiac dirges. So, here’s my take on it.
I believe the One Big Beautiful Butt-kicking happened because most Americans are angry about the four Cs: Costs, Cruelty, Chaos, and Corruption. And rather than focusing on the issues that matter most to ordinary Americans, Trump – with the acquiescence of this Republican sycophants – started a new war in collaboration with Benjamin Netanyahu, tossed around tariffs and drove up prices for consumers, turned federal law enforcement into his personal Gestapo, embraced America’s enemies and maligned America’s friends, and enriched himself and his oligarch allies while working class Americans saw their financial situations worsen. Millions of Americans who supported Trump in 2024 felt that he abandoned them and the promises he made, and to paraphrase Howard Beale’s famous line in the 1976 movie Network, they were mad as hell and not going to take it anymore.
I rarely agree with Ted Cruz, but his post-election assessment of the midterms was spot on: “2026 was not simply a blue wave; it was a blue tsunami. It was an ass kicking. It was not simply a bad 2006 midterm election. It was a Watergate-level repudiation.” I’ve seen some on the right trying to downplay the outcome by claiming that Republican voters just weren’t motivated and stayed home rather than going out and voting. Cruz dismissed that notion saying, “the problem wasn’t turnout. Instead, our voters – Republicans, Libertarians, Independents – showed up and voted, and rejected our candidates, voting Democrat instead.”
Republican Mayor of Oklahoma City David Holt summed it up well: “A political party that is morally and intellectually bankrupt deserves the rebuke of the American people. It’s now time to make America good again.”
So, Republicans have some soul searching to do as they decide how to revamp their imagio in the wake of the repudiation of Trump and the extreme MAGA agenda. I wish them good luck with that.
Democrats deserve to celebrate. I wouldn’t have bet 50 cents on the outcome of Tuesday night. It exceeded the wildest expectations of even the most optimistic progressives. But the celebration needs to end soon because now the hard part begins. I hope Democrats aren’t deluding themselves into thinking that the millions of people who voted for Trump in the past and voted blue on Tuesday fell in love with the Democratic Party and are now wedded to it. The majority of Americans still loathe both parties; they just loathe the Republican Party under the domination of Trump more. If Democrats want to keep these swing voters in the blue camp, Democrats have to demonstrate that they understand what matters to the majority of Americans and will do something about it.
Democrats have to prove that they are capable of doing two things at once and keeping both in balance.
First, there has to be accountability for the excesses and abuses of the past two years. And that can’t be the blind retribution and cruelty that Trump has employed; it must be focused and deliberate. I believe the failure to hold Nixon accountable after Watergate and Obama’s “look forward, not back” policy that gave impunity to Bush and Cheney for their post-9/11 abuses gave rise to the notion that Trump embraced that those at the top can do whatever they want with no consequences. Accountability needs to be fast, firm, and fair, so Democrats need to get on with it as soon as the 120th Congress is sworn in.
At the same time, Democrats have to deliver on the issues that matter to the majority of Americans. That means using the power to conduct oversight hearings and the power of the purse to take actions that will bring down costs. It means taking action to address wealth and income inequality. It means making affordable healthcare available to all Americans. It means making amends with our allies and tightening the screws on America’s enemies. It means revising our wasteful fiscal approach and addressing our 40.5 trillion dollar national debt. It means tax policies that are fair to all and not tilted in favor of billionaires and big corporations. It means shoring up Social Security. It means getting the government out of places where it doesn’t belong, like locker rooms and bathrooms.
So, for now, celebrate, but put it to bed soon and get on with the tasks that are in hand. Do it well – and that’s a tall, tall order – and I suspect you’ll be celebrating again in 2028. Do it poorly and you’ll be as sad then as Laura Loomer and Franklin Graham are now.
I believe the Bible verse that Russell Brand was grasping for was Proverbs 11:21 — “Though hand join in hand, the wicked shall not be unpunished: but the seed of the righteous shall be delivered.”
In this case the "seed of the righteous" is a parade of convicts "delivering" to his bunghole.

There is no chance that anyone is going to challenge Hakeem Jeffries for Speaker, especially since he would be the first Black Speaker.
And it doesn't look like anyone is going to challenge Schumer in the Senate either. Van Hollen doesn't seem interested, and no one seems to have the appetite for taking on Schumer's powerful machine in the party. I'm hearing this from a lot of folks here in DC, and it seems to be in the zeitgeist. Schumer's incredible incompetence (which probably cost at least one Senate seat for the Dems in Florida and damn near cost Michigan and Maine too if Schumer had his way) is not on people's minds in the euphoria of yesterday's performance.
We should take this as an early warning sign. There's probably nothing to be done about it, but it should be a signal to all of us that we need to double down on our involvement on the issues, not ease up on them--which is what the centrists are going to say we need to do. Remember how wrong they have been at every turn and they know they are on shaky ground to say the least.
No rest, I'm afraid...

Trump is going to offer Democrats deals to avoid being investigated. But under no circumstances if Dems want win in 2028 can they make any deal that means no investigations of Trump, his sons and corrupt regime. Per exit polls 71% of voters wants Dems to hold Trump accountable. They MUST listen!

In case you missed today's MLB hot stove news and rumors, here's everything you need to know:
⚾️ YANKEES
▸ ESPN's Kiley McDaniel says the Yankees are "thinking about" a run at Tarik Skubal, and would trade from their pitching stockpile if they land him. His projection: 8 years, $352M. Skubal next to Cam Schlittler would be a SCARY 1-2. Highly doubt the Yankees make this move.
▸ The Yankees let Brian Sabean go after four seasons as an advisor to Cashman, per @Joelsherman1. The guy with three rings as Giants GM just landed on the Hall of Fame ballot too.
▸ Brewers manager Pat Murphy says he called Cashman "right away" to apologize for his hot mic Yankees jab at Jake Bauers. On "The Show" with Sherman and @JonHeyman, he said he meant teams with "a lot of high-paid long-contract players."
⚾️ ASTROS
▸ Houston is interviewing Rangers bench coach Luis Urueta for its manager job this week, per @jonmorosi.
⚾️ LABOR
▸ MLB proposed pushing its salary cap back to 2028: a $258.2M cap and $180.2M floor, up from $245.3M and $171.2M, per @JeffPassan. It also bumps the minimum salary to $1M for players with 2+ years and lets players 30 and up hit free agency after 5 years, per @BNightengale. The union STRONGLY rejected it. 28 days until Dec. 1. (lockout szn inbound)
⚾️ MARINERS
▸ Seattle hired 36-year-old Jason Kanzler as manager, first reported by @DKramer_. He's never managed at ANY level. He beat out former Astros manager Joe Espada for the job, per @Ken_Rosenthal. (went from teaching high school physics to an MLB dugout, love it)
⚾️ A'S / BREWERS
▸ The A's are hiring Cam Castro away from the World Series champion Brewers as their GM, per Rosenthal. Castro ran player development and performance in Milwaukee and has a deep pitching development background. Champs getting their front office raided already.

Democrats that won tonight need to understand something: voters rejected Trump’s chaos, economic failures, attacks on democracy, and disregard for the rule of law.
This wasn’t a blank check. It was a demand for change.
Now DELIVER.

"Be the American that Japanese people think you are."
Well worth a read.
There's a saying on American social media:
"Be the American that Japanese people think you are."
I'm Japanese. I've lived in Tokyo my whole life.
So let me tell you what we actually say about you, when you're not in the room.
"When someone falls down on the street, we pretend not to see. We're protecting their pride. Americans run straight at them. They don't care about the pride. They care about the knee." (Office worker, 38)
"An American will stop four lanes of traffic for a family of ducks. And then everyone in the cars claps for the ducks." (Taxi driver, 61)
"If you lend an American a pen, you will never see it again. If you need a kidney, they'll ask your blood type." (Nurse, 45)
"At kids' soccer games, they cheer when the other team's kid scores. The other team's parents look confused. Then they cheer too." (Youth soccer coach, 52, lived one year in Ohio)
"A man sneezed on a bus in Chicago. Eleven strangers said 'Bless you.' He said 'thank you' eleven times. Nobody on that bus thought this was strange." (University student, 21)
"At an airport in Texas, I watched a soldier try to pay for his lunch. The cashier said someone already had. He asked who. She said, 'Somebody who didn't want you to know.'" (Retired teacher, 70)
"American fathers cannot braid hair. But they will watch a video at midnight for an hour so their daughter's hair looks right on picture day." (Hair stylist, 33)
"I ran the Chicago Marathon once. Strangers stood in the cold for hours holding signs for people they will never meet. At mile 20, a man I'd never seen read the name off my bib and screamed it like he'd raised me." (Runner, 48)
"When Americans get lost, they ask a stranger. If the stranger is also lost, they become a team." (Tour guide, 39)
"They ask the waitress her name. And then they remember it." (Restaurant owner, 66)
And one more. From my father. He's 76. He doesn't say much about anything. This is the longest thing I have ever heard him say about another country.
"Every time something terrible happens in America, I watch the news, and I look for one thing.
The people running toward it.
There are always so many."
So, America.
You don't have to become the Americans we think you are.
We're not imagining you.
We're remembering you.

Dear @hakeemjeffries
It's not about "getting even"
But the American people demand **ACCOUNTABILITY** and if Trump broke the law or someone in the Trump administration did THEY MUST BE PROSECUTED.
And failure to understand that will **SQUANDER** this extraordinary victory.

Democrats should pass single-issue bills that are easy to sell as having a measurable impact on people’s lives and then FORCE TRUMP TO VETO THEM.
His veto threats are pathetic and weak.
Make him own it.
Elon is toast. Congress now has free rein to expose him as the traitor he is. He may be charged with high crimes; he may be pardoned. Three things he can’t escape: exposure, markets, and state-level charges. Congress should launch a lengthy investigation and curtail his ability to flee the country.

The fact that Elmo just set fire to a half of billion this election cycle makes me fucking giddy
It has taken way too many of you, way too long, to realize that Trump is a self absorbed, criminal, piece of shit.
