Chengannur Railway Station witnessed a constructive Jansamvaad chaired by Shri Suresh Gopi, Hon’ble Minister of State, in the presence of Shri Divyakant Chandrakar, DRM, Thiruvananthapuram Division, Railway officials, State Government and Municipal officials, public representatives and stakeholders, along with members of the general public.
The discussions focused on strengthening coordination and addressing passenger needs ahead of the Mandala–Makaravilakku pilgrimage season 2026–27, with the shared commitment to provide every pilgrim with a welcoming, safe and caring travel experience while ensuring the comfort and safety of local residents.
The meeting also reinforced the importance of Swachhata Hi Seva and the ongoing Special Campaign to ensure clean, well-organised and pilgrim-friendly railway facilities throughout the season.

Shri U. Subba Rao, General Manager, Southern Railway, inaugurated several new initiatives and facilities at the Electric Loco Shed, Arakkonam, today (15.10.2026), in the presence of Shri Ganesh, Principal Chief Electrical Engineer, Southern Railway, and Shri Shailendra Singh, Divisional Railway Manager, Chennai Division.
The initiatives include Surya Shakthi (Powering Loco Works with Sunshine), Surya Pragati (Solar Energy for a Greener Journey), and Surya Tejas (Solar Power for Locomotive Care), promoting the use of solar energy in locomotive operations and maintenance.
Other key facilities include TM Smart (State-of-the-Art Automated Traction Motor Test Stand), SMGR IntelliBench (Integrated Test and Diagnostic Platform), and Loco Prism (Predictive Reliability & Intelligent System for Maintenance), aimed at enhancing testing, diagnostics, and maintenance capabilities.
The Loco Learning Hub (Building Skills for Maintenance & Excellence) was also inaugurated to promote skill development and excellence in maintenance.
