Silly thing to be peeved over, its just a demonym that is used here in the US and in other countries like: French uses: Américain Italian uses: Americano Portuguese uses: Americano as well. Same with Spanish: Americano. And well we also have the whole name of the country The United States of America. You can use whatever you want, just don't force it onto others. It's basic manners and cordial behavior.
