Plaid Cymru lectures Wales about equality. Its record on women tells a rather different story. 2023: its own review exposed a toxic culture of misogyny, harassment and bullying. 2024: unlawful discrimination against women’s rights charity FiLiA. 2026: Safa Elhassan quits the Women’s and Girls’ Rights Cross-Party Group, the first of its kind in the Senedd (involving organisations including @WRNWales and @MerchedCymru) with local media reporting allegations that male Plaid staffers bullied her into withdrawing. Three years. Same disturbing theme: misogyny, discrimination and alleged bullying when women’s sex-based rights become politically inconvenient. Plaid is now the party of government. The sex-based rights of half its electorate are neither optional nor negotiable. And my scrutiny won’t be optional, either.
