OMG 😮 India is a third world country, while conveniently ignoring those high on drug zombies on their streets, OMG 😮 India is a third world country, so how is it climbing the global GDP rankings? 🤔 How does a country supposedly incapable of progress produce millions of highly educated engineers, doctors, scientists, entrepreneurs, and business leaders, including CEOs of some of the world’s biggest companies? 💭 And when India grows, there are always voices trying to undermine that progress through propaganda, stereotypes, disinformation and according to critics, attempts by external interests to influence India’s politics and public discourse. The same mindset seems to assume that certain powers have the right to decide who rises and who must be pushed down. But that is the delusion no country owns the world. Every nation has its own interests, ambitions, challenges, and right to pursue its own development. Global leadership should not mean controlling everyone else. A genuinely influential country should have the confidence to help others rise not spend its energy trying to weaken them. You lose something of the meaning of global leadership when your strategy becomes about putting another country down instead of building something better yourself. And as for Modi, supporters see his approach as being driven primarily by India’s national interests rather than by the pursuit of international awards or approval. India can have disagreements with other countries while still maintaining relationships and cooperation across the world. Meanwhile, Indians continue to face racism and abuse online, particularly on platforms like X, while the enormous contributions of Indian professionals, businesses, entrepreneurs, engineers, doctors, scientists, and workers to economies around the world are conveniently forgotten. Criticize India. Debate its government. Question its policies. That is completely legitimate. But stop pretending India’s progress is imaginary. Stop reducing 1.4+ billion people to stereotypes. And stop assuming propaganda will make Indians forget what they see happening around them. India has challenges. India has work to do. But India is moving forward. So keep playing. Keep trying.
