Many of y’all helped me lift the rock last year with the original LIFT (a self portrait) release and then again during @artblocks_io Marfa Weekend at the wonderful exhibition that @glitchmarfa put on to celebrate the project.
Tonight we are debuting LIFT (together), a 1/1 interactive self replicating artwork that invites you to generate a character, compete to see who can lift the rock the fastest, and permanently live inside an ever evolving artwork celebrating collective human perseverance (and sometimes defeat).
Excited for y’all to give it a whirl. The goal is that this artwork travels to give new audiences an opportunity to experience my work and also digital/generative/blockchain art in a way that feels intuitive and participatory.
Thank you again for being a part of this and grateful to the entire glitch team all the wonderful humans involved in bringing this experience to life.
roughly two years ago
@artonblockchain shared an idea with me for an onchain generative artwork
it was titled:
LIFT (a self portrait)
the collection was deployed on @ethereum in august 2025
powered by @artblocks_io contracts
LIFT (a self portrait) consisted of 1,000 procedurally generated, fully onchain artworks and video games, each playable through a Game Boy Advance emulator or physical cartridge
at the center of each game
was a character called 'pixel man'
a procedurally generated self-portrait of snowfro
who was asked to lift a heavy boulder with the assistance of his onchain friends, while overcoming obstacles and opposing forces
over 300+ artists and friends of @artonblockchain were invited to create onchain pixel supporters for the project, which populate across all the 1,000 unique artworks
importantly
the network snowfro built around LIFT (a self portrait) was always meant to be a starting point
the beginning
snowfro had a much larger network he wanted to build
designed around the second chapter of his LIFT universe
tonight in marfa TX
our team at @glitchmarfa is honored to present snowfro's second chapter
in partnership with @LACMA and sponsored by @Fountainxyz
the new collection is called LIFT (together)
LIFT (together) is an interactive artwork and system designed by Snowfro combining a physical pedestal, offchain software, the @ethereum blockchain, and a global competition
the system invites anyone to walk up to the pedestal
design their very own pixel supporter
engage in a game of speed
and help lift snowfro’s rock
upon completion
the system generates a 1/1/x onchain exhibition poster on @ethereum
each onchain poster is also unique artwork, incorporating your designed pixel character, procedurally generated assets, and elements using @ethereum entropy
a small number of artworks in the collection may also find *rare* and *very rare* artwork attributes
each exhibition poster is also a record of location, printed on each artwork
over the next decade
the LIFT (together) pedestal will travel across the world
allowing collectors across different geographies and institutions
to join snowfro’s onchain network
and tonight, the journey begins in marfa, TX
join us at @glitchmarfa ❤️

Panter Xhita was my language for six years: an entire grammar that let me build a whole path, guided by the excitement of discovering myself alongside the work.
Language doesn't name the work, it produces it.
I find myself now in a continuous state of translation. And to translate is not to replace: it is knowledge that accumulates.
Like the Angelus Novus, the angel moving backwards into the future with its gaze fixed on the past, I want to keep expanding this universe that hasn't stopped growing, and neither have I.
Nothing is linear. Nothing is erased. Knowledge only accumulates, the same way the languages we speak do.
Stay with me on this path, guided by the desire for constant transformation.
From now on, when you name me, I will be Camila Kaese.

Moments in the History of Images: How Text-to-Image Models Changed Image-Making
Text-to-image models have transformed the way we create images. Today, systems like Stable Diffusion, Midjourney, FLUX, Adobe Firefly, Google Imagen, Nano Banana, Ideogram, Recraft, ByteDance Seedream, and OpenAI GPT Image can generate highly realistic images from just a few words. But in 2021, this technology was still in its infancy. One of the earliest examples of this idea was proposed by @elmanmansimov in his 2015 alignDRAW paper, and it took years for researchers to develop models capable of producing convincing images. The arrival of DALL·E in 2021 marked a turning point. Rather than spending days or weeks training a GAN model, artists could generate images almost instantly through text prompts. This shorter feedback loop opened up new possibilities for experimentation, allowing artists like @hollyherndon and @matdryhurst to improvise and collaborate with machines in ways that had previously been impossible.
During their early access to DALL·E 1, Herndon and Dryhurst created Infinite Images ∞, a series that explored the possibility of extending images beyond their original boundaries. The works reflect their belief that anyone should be able to create, adapt, and build upon the work of others. Produced in 2021–2022, these images were among the earliest artistic experiments with DALL·E 1, a research model available only to a small group of invited collaborators and OpenAI researchers. Today, DALL·E itself has been retired, but the technology it helped introduce has evolved into image-generation systems used by millions of people.
Working with DALL·E 1 and OpenAI's experimental InPaint system, the artists developed a technique for extending images piece by piece, maintaining continuity of style and subject matter across increasingly large compositions. Rather than relying solely on text prompts, they explored how images could grow through their relationships with one another. Although today's models can produce remarkably realistic results, these early experiments show how Herndon and Dryhurst were already pushing the technology beyond its intended uses, exploring its creative potential and capacity to engage with different artistic traditions. Infinite Images ∞ draws on a wide range of references, from surreal imaginary creatures to the bright colors of Fauvism and the grainy textures of gouache painting. For the artists, the possibility of infinite images extends across the entire history of human image-making, both past and future, increasingly shaped through collaboration between humans and machines.

I made a film.
Every chapter of technological modernity has searched for an aesthetics adequate to its time.
Time and again, the pursuit of the new and the beautiful has involved looking back to the past.
There has never been progress without nostalgia, or novelty without tradition.
The film tells this story through the history of architecture and design, from the mid-nineteenth century to present-day Silicon Valley.

I first heard Oscar Murillo's name 14 years ago.
I was visiting Mark Jenkins - a printmaker for a handful of London’s top galleries & dealers, and one of the behind-the-scenes legends of the London art world.
Mark was working on some prints by a recent Royal College graduate. He told me to keep an eye on the artist - one of two times I remember him doing so.
The first time, it was Helen Marten. This time, Oscar Murillo.
–
I didn't hear Oscar's name again for a year or so, when a wave of attention found its way to a handful of emerging 'process painters', sending certain artists’ markets soaring.
For most, it didn’t last. But from the ashes a small group of artists emerged who would go on to become some of the leading figures of their generation.
Oscar was one of them.
He signed with David Zwirner in 2013, and would go on to jointly win the Turner Prize (3 years after Helen Marten), take over Tate Modern's Turbine Hall, and exhibit at Gagosian London, Rome & Athens...all before turning 40.
–
Oscar is primarily a painter, though has spent much of the past 13 years working on a fully self-funded project, Frequencies - an archive of canvases drawn and painted by schoolchildren around the world.
@leyla_solos was familiar with Frequencies before we started Verse, and in 2022 became aware Oscar was considering giving the project a home on Ethereum.
4 years on, we will be partnering with Oscar to bring Frequencies to the world - debuting it this month at Oscar’s solo exhibition at David Zwirner, Paris.
We’ll be sharing more soon.

ARTXCODE (@artxcode_io), in partnership with Rhizome (@rhizome), is pleased to announce the artists of WEBSITES WEBSITES WEBSITES! (WWW!), a group exhibition curated by Sofia Garcia (@sofiagarcia_io) of ARTXCODE and Vienna Kim (@bennavkim) and Benoît Palop (@benoit_tokyo_) of LAN Party, celebrating the website as an artistic medium and marking the 30th anniversary of Rhizome, the pioneering institution for born-digital art and culture.
The exhibition features works by 0xfff, Chia Amisola, Kim Asendorf, Mika Ben Amar, Petra Cortright, Vuk Ćosić, Damjanski, Simon Denny, EXONEMO, Sarah Friend, Auriea Harvey, SHAWNÉ MICHAELAIN HOLLOWAY, Jan Robert Leegte, LIA, Maya Man, Lorna Mills, Nolen Royalty, Rafaël Rozendaal, Luke Shannon, and Molly Soda.
Together they span three decades of practice on the web, from the playful interventions of 1990s net.art pioneers to the poetic web experiments of artists navigating today’s algorithmically saturated internet.
Presented as live websites installed physically across the gallery and online, WWW! bridges generations of artists to show how the website remains a radical artistic space: one that belongs to no platform and answers to no algorithm.
On view September 21–27, 2026, with an opening reception on Monday, September 21, 6–9PM, at 39 Great Jones St, New York.
Works will be available for direct acquisition throughout the run of the exhibition, in-person or online, via Fellowship (@fellowshiptrust), with a portion of proceeds benefiting Rhizome’s work as a memory institution for digital art.
The venue for this exhibition was graciously provided by New International Picture Company.
