George Monbiot: “I’m not going to take lessons in climate from someone from Policy Exchange which is funded by the oil industry”
David Goodhart (Policy Exchange): “It isn’t”
GM: “I can demonstrate that it is”

Biden should go all out on climate for the next 75 days.
Declare a climate emergency. Get all the IRA money out the door. Permit new transmission lines. Stop new LNG exports. Ban drilling on public lands.
Make a mountain of progress for Trump to try and undo.

For climate advocates across the country, the outcome of this election means that all of us must find ways to redouble our efforts and find bipartisan solutions to the climate crisis that create jobs, promote prosperity and safeguard the future of humanity.
In a moment such as this, it is important to remember that all major reform efforts, from civil rights to the climate movement, suffer dark days. And this is surely one. We can mourn a loss, but we can’t linger in despair. Our planet doesn’t have time for that. Now more than ever, this movement needs engagement and leadership from all corners of the country.
During a down moment in the struggle for civil rights, Martin Luther King, Jr. said something about overcoming days like this: “If you can’t fly, run; if you can’t run, walk; if you can’t walk, crawl; but by all means keep moving.”
We know the line to solutions is never straight or easy. But we have won major victories in tackling the climate crisis and reducing climate pollution in our country, and we will again.
My greatest source of hope comes from the courage and commitment of grassroots leaders and advocates in the U.S. and around the world who are relentlessly pushing for progress. Onward.

I analyzed political donations from the biggest tech companies this election cycle.
I found that Big Tech has given more than half a million dollars to 74 candidates that deny human activity is the primary cause of climate change.

So much for “Democracy Dies in Darkness”. This is the most hypocritical, chicken shit move from a publication that is supposed to hold people in power to account.

I debated whether to share this. I did apologize on the air. But I invite you to read my introspection on @BulletinAtomic of how extreme weather 📈 driven by global warming has changed me. Frankly, YOU should be shaken too, and demand #ClimateActionNow. thebulletin.org/2024/09/hurr…

Exported gas results in far worse planet-heating emissions than coal, major new study, targeted by industry and Republicans, finds.
Despite being touted as a cleaner option, liquified natural gas (LNG) is *33% worse* in emissions over a 20-year period. theguardian.com/us-news/2024…

Very happy have the 2nd study from my PhD picked up by the Guardian. Thanks @dpcarrington
We find that "walking the talk" from politicians, celebs and CEOs is a missing link in climate change action.
And people *really* want to see it!

Thousands of people urged @CBS and Moderator @NorahODonnell to include a question about Helene and climate change. This morning 6 young people were arrested at CBS HQ calling for it.
Tonight, the 2nd question at the debate was exactly that.
This is a huge win.

Today is the day the UK becomes the first G7 country to completely phase out coal power
Since opening "Jumbo", the world's first coal power plant in 1882, the UK's coal plants have burned through a whopping 4.6bn tonnes of coal, emitting 10.4GtCO2 – which is more than most countries have ever released
Here's the story of how that all came to an end:
