Gas is usually close to California prices, and I heard a 20 pack of smokes is something north of $20. I don't smoke. It could be higher. Lots of people in my neck of the woods buy Indian reservation contraband smokes.
Liquor, tobacco and fuel taxes are basically what pays for our crumbling healthcare system. A 12 pack of that stuff is closer to CAD $30 plus tax and deposit. 12% tax and 10 cents per can or bottle. So I get to spend more money driving the empties to the recycle centre.
