A lot of people on CT talk a big game with little to show for it. I make my fair share of mistakes, but I'm better than your average 🐻, and I got the proof of work👇. A) $700 -> $264K on $MSTR calls B) Nailed the bottom on $GBTC xitter.cf/GoBlue1520/status/1611…
Replying to @DylanLeClair
I bot some $GBTC on Friday. It's a gamble, but couldn't resist the chance to get some 🌽 at <$10K/coin. If we get a chance to redeem, it's going straight to 🧊 storage.

On the House floor tonight, I read the names of several Epstein coconspirators who should be investigated and prosecuted. I also began collecting 218 signatures for the discharge petition to force a vote on Epstein Files Transparency Act II.

President Trump had a choice, try to save America ... or try to save the Empire. He chose the latter. Now America (and the Empire) are paying dearly for it. A confluence of bad decisions are creating a perfect storm: - $40 Trillion in debt has been crossed. - America has suffered its greatest strategic military defeat in Iran. - America is getting kicked out of the Middle East, instead of leaving voluntarily. - The AI Bubble is the biggest bubble (by far) of them all. All of this should have been avoided. The "Golden Age" is anything but golden. Watch @RonPaul & @ChrisRossini below:

Reminder “The president wants lower rates… He and I are focused on the 10-year Treasury and what is the yield of that.” — Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, 2/5/25. The 10-year yield at 4.60% is just 2 bps from the highest yield since Trump took office on Jan 20, 2025.

⚠️US call options volume is SKYROCKETING: Total net call volume, measured as calls minus puts on a 5-day moving average, surged to ~2,000,000 contracts, the highest on record. This exceeds the post-Liberation Day recovery difference by ~400,000 contracts. In other words, call volume has almost NEVER exceeded put volume by such an extent in the past. As a result, the equity call/put volume ratio rose to 1.50, the highest since the 2020 crisis recovery. Over the last 16 years, the call/put ratio has been higher only 5% of the time. By comparison, the long-term average since 2005 stands at ~1.10, meaning the current reading is ~+36% above the historical norm. The frenzy is even bigger than the 2021 meme mania.

J.D. Vance in April 2025: “I think a lot of European nations were right about our invasion of Iraq. Frankly, if the Europeans had been a little more independent, and a little more willing to stand up, then maybe we could have saved the entire world from the strategic disaster that was the American-led invasion of Iraq…I don’t want the Europeans to just do whatever the Americans tell them to do. I don’t think it’s in their interest, and I don’t think it’s in our interests, either.” unherd.com/2025/04/transcrip…

If Iran wins, it's the end of five eras. 1991-2026: the unipolar era 1974-2026: the petrodollar era 1945-2026: the postwar era 1776-2026: the union era 1492-2026: the Western era Specifically, the end of the petrodollar (1974) would also be the end of the unipolar moment (1991) and the postwar order (1945). It would mark the moment when Eurasian powers were once again dominant over Western powers (1492). Finally, a rapid crash in the dollar's purchasing power coupled with military defeat could well break apart the American union (1776). Few seem to viscerally understand just how dependent America is on money printing. But the end of the petrodollar is the end of Keynesianism as we know it. And if there's a sudden cost-of-living spike on top of pre-existing levels of political polarization, which are already near Civil War levels...we could see the scenarios that Dalio, the Fourth Turning, and Turchin have described.

It’s crystal clear now that Trump has lost control of this war. He badly misjudged Iran’s ability to retaliate. The region is on fire. 1/ I’m going to explain to you in this🧵what I’ve learned - in part from closed door briefings - about the four biggest current crises.

When I say groupthink, I really do mean it. @RKelanic is more serious than others. In the paper of record, she laid out, quite correctly, all the ways in which this could backfire. It is highly significant that the actual scenario unfolding — a military defeat with the US unable to reopen Hormuz without Iranian cooperation — was not even considered. I am interested in understanding why it is that even she did not see this coming. Why, despite Krepinevich’s well-known thesis on the diffusion of precision-strike and the recent experience of the US military in the campaign against the Houthis, the US military did not anticipate these developments. Why did the editors of the NYTimes frame this as a one-sided affair filed under “US and Israel Attack Iran.” I think the reason is fairly clear. There was a systematic misperception of the balance of power. They attacked bc they really thought Iran to be weak and tottering — the groupthink consists in precisely this perception; Western analysts simply assumed that this will be a one sided affair, with US and Israeli power dismantling the Iranian state. In part, this is Iran’s fault. They did not move aggressively to restore deterrence in previous rounds; thereby persuading Bibi and Trump that they won’t counter-escalate. But that can’t be the whole story. I don’t think we can make sense of this catastrophic failure of groupthink without reaching for the orientalist-racialist prior of Western analysts and policy makers. nytimes.com/2025/06/14/opini…
Can I just say that we have a clear and unambiguous case here of not just catastrophically bad foreign policy making but also military planning. — They did not anticipate that Iran would escalate immediately to counter-value attacks across the gulf. — They did not anticipate that Iran could destroy US air bases in the region and push back US forces. — They did not anticipate that they will be unable to reopen Hormuz. All of the failures stem from the same overriding premise: that Iran was weak and defenseless. That the US was so powerful that it could simply dictate political terms to the Iranians. They simply could not understand why the Iranians were not capitulating to their demand that they disarm and resign themselves to being ruled from the air by Israel. open.substack.com/pub/policy…

The price of gas has gone up $0.47 and the price of diesel has gone up $0.83 in 10 days due to War with Iran. and waging war costs American taxpayers about $1 billion per day, which comes out to $10 per family per day, or $100 since the war began. This isn’t America First.

US futures open in less than 24 hours: Yet, we have not seen any indication of de-escalation in the Middle East amid rapidly surging oil prices. Meanwhile, Kuwait, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, and Qatar have all confirmed at least partial oil production shutdowns. And, a FULL halt of ~20% of the world's LNG supply has taken effect in Qatar. The bigger problem here is that shutting down oil and gas facilities is not a simple process, particularly when it comes to restarting production. Once plants shut down, it can take weeks to months for production to ramp back up to full capacity. The next 24 hours are crucial. Unless there is intervention, it appears that oil prices are setting up to surge above $100/barrel. Prepare for extreme volatility tomorrow.

NEW STUDY: 36 AI models across 9,072 scenarios asking one question What money do you prefer? 48.3% chose Bitcoin. 90.8% of AI responses chose digitally-native money over fiat. Not a single model out of 36 picked traditional fiat as its top choice. No prompt mentioned Bitcoin. The models reasoned their way there independently.
