Black Americans should not give automatic loyalty to any Muslim-majority nation or movement. Support should depend on conduct. Forced labor, trafficking, and the exploitation of African migrants remain documented problems across parts of the Arab world. If we demand that Western countries answer for their history of enslaving Black people, we must apply that same standard to the Arab world.
