Gopher Game Notes

Pennsylvania native L.J. Mooney gives the #Gophers their third-ever overtime win over Penn State. The tally was the sophomore's first-career game-winning goal. Minnesota's last 11 overtime goals have been scored by underclassmen.

Pennsylvania native Christian Humphreys extends his point streak to four games with his team-leading fourth goal and sixth point of the season. The goal was the #Gophers' 100th, all-time, against Penn State at 3M Arena at Mariucci.

Tate Pritchard assists a Tanner Ludkte goal for the first time since Feb. 10, 2022, when he earned a secondary helper on a Ludtke tally for Lakeville South High School in a 9-0 win over Eagan. Ludtke had a secondary assist on Pritchard's fourth-career #Gophers goal in 2025-26.

Javon Moore, who scored his last goal of 2025-26 against Penn State, scores his first of 2026-27 against the Nittany Lions and now has goals in three-straight games against them. Tarin Smith collects his first college point with the secondary assist.

With Luca Di Pasquo and Melvin Strahl each earning a victory last week, two different #Gophers goaltenders recorded a win in a sweep of North Dakota for the first time since Justin Johnson and Adam Hauser on Feb. 8-9, 2002. Both Di Pasquo (last year) and Strahl (last week) got the first wins of their Gopher careers against the Fighting Hawks.

Including postseason, the #Gophers earn their 38th all-time sweep of North Dakota and their first since Nov. 4-5, 2011. Minnesota sweeps a top-three opponent for the first time since beating No. 3 Michigan on the road in back-to-back games on Nov. 17-18, 2022.
