Apparently if Anthony Albanese leaves social media it will be safer for children. Now if he leaves podcasts they will be safer for humour. Less exposure will probably also help his approval ratings. Hope he can prevail on his colleagues as well.
Tomorrow, I’ll be unplugged from my social media channels. I’m doing it for Mac Holdsworth. For every Australian child who’s encountered online harm. And for the parents who deserve a safer digital world for their kids.

🚨🚨 HOLLY COW! You will not believe what I found. After I posted about the AEC’s global collaborations, I thought I should check what these committees actually are, and ended up free falling into a shocking rabbit hall. I will take you through the network step by step, with receipts and all, in the comments. First, the principle. What I saw, what I thought it was, and what I now think it already is - so you get the full picture upfront. I picked up International IDEA from BRIDGE network to start with, only because it has such an outrages description: IDEA- International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance: "an INTERGOVERNMENTAL ORGANISATION that supports SUSTAINABLE DEMOCRACY worldwide. Its objective is to support sustainable democratic change by providing comparative knowledge, assisting in DEMOCRATIC REFORMS AND INFLUENCING POLICIES AND POLITICS. It aims to strengthen democratic institutions and processes." Read that again. An institute, owned by governments, whose job is to influence policies and politics, and whose membership is the proof that this is legitimate. I opened the site expecting elections. What I found was a climate website. It is not a page about keeping polling stations open in a flood. Floods and heatwaves do disrupt elections, and planning for that is ordinary administration. That is the small print. The page itself is about what democratic institutions should do when climate policy is at stake. Their wording treats slow or reversed climate policy as a failure of democracy, not as one result an election is allowed to produce. The fixes sit outside the count. Framework laws and clauses on future generations, so a later government cannot simply repeal the policy. Standing advisers who keep pressure on parliament after the vote. Citizen climate assemblies, described as a “social mandate” for net-zero. Climate litigation when elected governments do not act. And a playbook against what they call disinformation, launched with their coalition at COP30. They are not proposing to cancel ballots. They want to safeguard the agenda from democratically elected government. Initially I thought I had found a shield against One Nation that works like that: The AEC would still run the election and count the votes. One Nation could still win. After the win, the instruction to the state is already scripted. Departments keep serving the old Act. A commissioner writes and demands a reply. Litigants use the rulings this network tracks. Foreign ministries and donors cite the score. An assembly report is handed to senators as the real public view. The official line is that the election was clean, the climate facts are settled, and claims about costs or blackouts are misinformation. Media briefings and school materials already carry that line. The scrap bogs down in court, in the Senate, in the story, and in pressure from outside. IDEA’s coalition has strategic support from the European Climate Foundation and the German government. Speakers there treated democratic decline and weaker climate policy as the same problem. Australia’s link is not the AEC as a member. The member is the government, through DFAT. The AEC is the commission in the room. BRIDGE, the shared election curriculum, was set up in Canberra in December 1999. The partners were the AEC, IDEA, the American election body IFES, and two UN offices. The National Security College at the ANU has hosted the commissioner and IDEA on the same stage. More than a hundred election bodies sit in the later club, A-WEB. Then I thought, hang on, if this is the climate arm , there must be other arms for different targets such as gender, immigrations and others. And lo and behold, here they are, one by one: Gender sits in BRIDGE itself. Same machine, different target. There is a module called Gender Equality and Elections. Quotas. “Temporary special measures.” A gender plan for the commission. The UN end of that target is the Commission on the Status of Women, and CEDAW, the women’s convention Australia has already signed. UN Women with its Governor General patron is the agency that carries it. Immigration is the next one. It does not sit in the election pack. The lock is the Refugee Convention. The offices are UNHCR and the International Organization for Migration. Australia helped found IOM and renewed the deal in 2026. DFAT holds the seat. Home Affairs pays most of the money, and Home Affairs stamps the visas. So a minister can say the numbers will fall. The stamps will keep moving regardless. Speech is the information arm. In Europe it is the Democracy Shield, a fact-checker centre, and the Digital Services Act, which is how platforms get pushed. At the UN it is UNESCO, under the name information integrity, climate included. Here it is eSafety and the digital duty of care. IDEA’s disinformation playbook is the election-office version of the same label. So climate is IDEA and the climate department. Gender is BRIDGE and the UN women’s file. Immigration is the Convention, UNHCR, IOM and Home Affairs. Speech is the Shield, UNESCO and eSafety. The AEC is on the BRIDGE deed with IDEA and the UN. DFAT sits on the councils. That is the set. And if it's all there, charged and ready, who to say they are not all ready running the country? * I'll add the breakdown in the comments throughout the day 👇🧵

Not sure how many picked up on it or it went under the radar, but Labor Communications Minister, Anika Well’s made a DIRECT ADMISSION that this Labor government and eKaren are already engaging FOREIGN agents to engage in sock puppet warfare against Australians. They want the DDoC laws so they don’t get arrested for doing it in Australia! This government is hostile.

Greg Sheridan thinks the Albanese government doesn't normally engage in "hateful rhetoric or extreme language". But that's wrong and it needs to be called out. This is Albanese in August about roughly 30% of his fellow Australians. "Across the world hard right populists are on the march. Peddling politics that is dangerous, divisive, and downright dishonest. We simply must defeat them. We owe it to history. And we will defeat them. They’ll say anything and do anything to win votes. Bend any facts. Peddle misinformation and disinformation. Turn Australian against Australian. Parties like One Nation have no serious answers to our problems." Today he would call John Howard a "hard right populist". This has to be called out for what it is as often as it happens. theaustralian.com.au/comment…

Cowardice is what is killing civilisation. None of the high-performing women quoted in this story who criticised the theory of the "Glass Cliff" was prepared to put her name to her comments. Only a man was prepared to step up. That says something right there.

Snowy 2.0's massive blowout means the sunk cost bullet should be bitten and the project abandoned. It also casts doubt on the viability of some other pumped hydro projects, like Queensland's Borumba. Snowy is 2 GW, runs for 175 hours and costs $25 B. Borumba is 2 GW, runs for 24 hours and costs $18 B.

That something like this at some level has been going on was obvious since the first Trump presidency starting with pussyhats, through BLM, and then lawfare during the Biden presidency and targeting of community groups, like concerned parents, and the censorship of social media.
🚨 BREAKING: Laura Ingraham just laid out what she says is the radical left's playbook to take down federal authority. Per Ingraham, it goes like this. Flood the streets nationwide until Trump invokes the Insurrection Act.  Claim the military is committing abuses. Get the press to amplify every clip. Then blue state governors unite to override federal authority and rewrite the Constitution. She says former Obama and Biden staffers, ex-USAID employees and community organizers are openly discussing it. One former USAID staffer made it sound like utopia. "We're going to have to, if we want to live in peace and deeper democracy, reform our legal frameworks,"  They call it reform. It's a power grab with a nicer name.

Grace Tame lacks self awareness or is a shameless hypocrite. Which?
Grace Tame is chastising us all over Helen Haines: "Australia, you've done it again." "Commentators and journalists simply cannot seem to resist projecting their own ideological bias onto absolutely everything and everyone," she said. This is a person tried to incite violence during a state visit by the President of Israel.

This looks like a breakthrough. Two-thirds of Australians now support nuclear, including 50% Greens. Previously it was just less than 50% of the entire population.
Nearly 2/3 of Australians support nuclear energy being considered. New polling Nuclear for Australia commissioned with YouGov shows rising support for nuclear power. ⚛️ Take Action & Learn More: LiftTheBan.com.au

Suppression of speech and efforts to force “social cohesion” are aggravating factors to extremism and radicalisation. If we want a truly respectful and civil society and debate, we need more speech, not less. This is a pathetic and reprehensible position.
Nationals MP Tim McCurdy has weighed in on the potential motives of the man who tried to kill Helen Haines, & declared his willingness to support new legislation restricting speech online in the aftermath.

Follow this guy. Truths about Israel.
I am not Jewish. But I am a proud Israeli citizen. I live in Tel Aviv. Despite the world having extremely opinionated views about the country I live in, few people I have come across on X (that don’t live here) know little of substance about Israel apart from their warped sense of history and reality. This is the first post of a series I will write entitled Everything You Think You Know About Israel is (Probably) Wrong. The points are not in any particular order. Spread the word. Most Israelis (just over 50%) are not white. The devastating impact on European Jews of the Holocaust meant that the newly formed Israel in 1948 was largely populated by Jews fleeing persecution in Muslim-ruled countries predominantly in the Middle East and North Africa. These are known as Mizrahi Jews and when the State of Israel was formed they made up 80% of the Jewish population living here. Jews have had a continuous presence in the land of Israel since around 1208 BCE, that’s 3,200 years — long before the creation of the state of Israel in 1948. The Muslim faith, in contrast, dates back 1,400 years (610 CE). Yes, when they lost majority rule in the 7th-century Muslim conquest they were not in the majority for centuries, but still lived in their ancestral homeland. Arab terrorism against Jews existed before 1948. In 1929, for example, 67 Jews were killed in the Hebron massacre, attacked and slaughtered by the Arabs they lived and worked beside. My wife’s great-grandfather Ben-Zion Gershon (who was a local doctor that often treated the Arab community without accepting payment) was tortured, had both his eyes gouged out and was then murdered. This was after his daughter Esther was raped in front of him, and his wife Zahava had both arms chopped off and was left to die. This was just one of many similar massacres inflicted on Jews that day. I will continue this series over the coming days.

I used to be a member of Amnesty - when they were a real human rights group. Haven't been a member for at least 20 years. They absolutely do pick and choose who has rights, and who is allowed to be right. Used to be about prisoners of conscience, and now it is without conscience.
The human rights movement doesn’t pick and choose who has rights. We won’t refrain from calling for justice, whether the suspected perpetrator sits in Tehran, Washington D.C., or anywhere else. Secretary Rubio knows that. So when he calls a human rights organization a fraud for doing its job, that’s just his playbook for avoiding accountability. Read more: bit.ly/4802bfe

I don't understand why everyone is so outraged over the Mecca executions. This is what they do. This is islamic sharia law in practice. I despise it of course, but unlike most of you I don't pretend to be shocked. This is literally how their religion works, especially in Mecca. I'm a lot more surprised that some of you seem to think sharia law is some kind of compassionate and empathetic legal system that is supposed to spare people. It's like you haven't paid attention at all.
