Britain’s planning system is a monumental act of national self-sabotage, exhibit #4729. A big new data centre (which the country really needs) right next to a huge motorway is refused permission because “the buildings would be visible from the bridges across the motorway”
This is absolutely deranged. UK government refuses planning permission for a data centre despite recognising an "urgent need" for it partly because it thinks *being right next to the M25* has negligible impact on green belt amenity value

Pleased to be credited on this APPG report into the future of the suburbs - coincidentally timed with my move into the public sector. One of the most interesting conundrums I faced during my time in CRE was how to define "suburbia" using data! Read: builtlondonappg.co.uk/_files…

"Add" doing tons of heavy lifting as well. Several households will require one party to be at home on most days (kids/pets/other). So, going to the office over and above the 'normalised' routine will only really add commuting costs.
A Telegraph article claimed working from home will add more than £2,500 a year to the average household’s energy costs. But the calculation was flawed, because it assumed that a year was made of 12 Januaries. fullfact.org/economy/telegra…

Excellent editorial about #businessrates reform by @samanthamcclary tinyurl.com/5a5pfxs3. It is noteworthy though that none of the main trade groups have called for its abolition, but reform to ensure a fair #businessrates system fit for the current age. They have been ignored
