In more than 25 years on the Buy-side I have learnt one thing: Markets are anything but efficient. They are a psychiatric ward. Either you join the patients. Or you try to become part of the staff and study the patients.

I think that ppl have failed to realize what happened with Starlink in Ukraine / $SPCX You pay for an insurance that fails to pay during the hurricane at the will of the insurer unilaterally. Motivation to continue paying? ZERO Incentives to bypass this reliance? Maximum

TESLA Is Legacy: Bi-Directional Inverters II (OPEN LINK) graphcall.com/execute?task=N… In this episode, we continue to review the situation with bi-directional inverters at TESLA. TESLA has embraced bi-directional charging in its cars (albeit late), but problems remain: The TESLA cars that can do it are much more expensive than its competition The Powerwall is a lot more expensive than the competition. Unlike the competition, in some parts of the world, TESLA's charging network is not an Airbnb or Plug Inn network, with massive capillarity. TESLA’s network is capital-intensive and will not have the reach of the Plug Inn network, for example. Nothing has been conceived yet that was surfaced so far from TESLA to enable discharging back to the grid from the car from anywhere, as with Airbnb-style accommodation or charging networks, while competitors are already working on the ability to discharge from the car to the grid from anywhere and get paid. Next time, we will discuss how the Gen-4 batteries coming to the TLR7 and TLR8 within a few quarters are going to radically change the cost-competitiveness of various EV manufacturers, and how this will change the landscape of BESS power buying and selling.

For those wondering if falling prices are a catastrophe. Well the highest period of growth between 1866-1913 was a deflationary boom. Don't argue with facts, you'll lose.
1/13 🧵 Rubbish theory about strong demand & inflation. Let's kill that w/ hard data. Some commentators @RaoulGMI argue that most have it wrong about inflation b/c in the 70s, you had a lot of demand lots of ppl entering the workforce. Well.... Price fell post civil war...

There is NO green spike post elastic money of 1933. NONE. Deflationary loop is NEVER your real problem in elastic money. Your problem is always INFLATION in elastic money, here is 350 years of prices in the US.

Back to the future. Bills of exchange. SO. It's like BTC , BUT instead of having nothing to back the token, you have a piece of Gold. How to recreate a #BTC ? Taken Gold Token, then remove the backing, make sure ZIP , NADA backs it And TADA! You have a #BTC. morons😂🤣😝
It is happening. 🔥🔥🔥 The London Metal Exchange (LME), owned by Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing (HKEX) since 2012, is exploring the tokenization of off-warrant metal inventories stored in its Hong Kong warehouses. The aim is to turn this metal into digital assets that can be used for financing: primarily as collateral for loans. Key points: ⭕️ Off-warrant metal (inventory without LME warehouse warrants/title documents) currently lacks a standardized financing mechanism. On-warrant metal can already be traded or pledged easily. ⭕️ Tokenization would create trackable digital claims on the physical metal, making it more bankable as collateral and potentially increasing liquidity. ⭕️ The LME says it is at the early stages of exploring this for business financing and will consult stakeholders. An invitation-only industry roundtable is planned for early November 2026. 🔶Policy context: The move is tied to Hong Kong’s first five-year economic blueprint (published September 2026), which seeks to position the city as a commodities trading and financing hub by attracting investors, traders, and financiers. This aligns with China’s 15th Five-Year Plan (March 2026), which for the first time explicitly backs developing Hong Kong into a commodity trading powerhouse. Hong Kong plans to leverage its status as an approved LME delivery point (approved January 2025). 🎯Expected benefits include drawing more capital and activity into Hong Kong’s commodities ecosystem and giving the LME a new revenue stream. Separately, HKEX is testing tokenized carbon credits for near-instant settlement. 🎯This fits into the broader push for physical metal liquidity and trading infrastructure in Hong Kong (as referenced in the surrounding X discussion about MKS PAMP considering a vault there).

The past is irrelevant to your current positions. I shorted Silver at 115 and bought back a bit recently. If I would reason that shorting at 115 meant it would be right to be bearish at 53-54...? It would be PURE madness to be fundamentally bearish at this point given a) Primary deficit of the US b) Solar efficiency gains and system costs plunging for solar which will UTTERLY crush other forms of electricity.

You have seen nothing yet on Renault, They have Gen-4 batteries going TL7-TL8 in a couple of months. It has radical implications for Battery costs and energy density given its polymer separator/electrolyte and BESS given its C-Pulse value and bi-directional inverters. BYD and TSLA are stuck at Gen-3 (LFP) Either you have the electrochemist (BasqueVolt / Armand - Ampere) or you don't 🤷‍♂️

It's too late, EVs are already cheaper including truck EVs than gasoline or diesel, and renewables plus storage are already cheaper than nat gas for power. 🤷‍♂️ Somebody did not think properly around 2022 🧠🔫
🇺🇦 🇺🇲 The confrontation inside Trump's Ukraine peace negotiations is now coming into focus. Le Monde reports that Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner spent nearly three hours pitching Ukraine's presidential chief of staff, Kyrylo Budanov, a postwar economic arrangement built around restoring Russian oil and gas flows to Europe through Ukrainian pipelines. The meeting took place on October 9 at the Shell Bay golf club in Florida. Witkoff presented the proposal as a regional prosperity plan: Ukraine would collect transit revenues, Europe would receive cheaper energy, and Russia would regain access to commercial routes disrupted by the war. Budanov saw something fundamentally different. According to a witness cited by Le Monde, he objected that the arrangement would recreate Ukraine's dependence on Moscow. “Our model is not Belarus, but Poland!” he reportedly replied. The meeting was interrupted, and Budanov called Zelensky. When talks resumed, news arrived that Trump had announced a separate agreement with Putin involving Russian diesel. Le Monde reports that an irritated Witkoff then demanded that the Ukrainians accept the arrangement and stop striking Russian oil refineries, arguing that the attacks endangered the wider world. A source familiar with the Ukrainian delegation described its members as exceptionally distressed by the encounter. The account adds a revealing dimension to the commercial negotiations we have been tracking. The proposed Lukoil asset sale, Novatek's involvement in an Alaska LNG venture, the broader US-Russia list of business opportunities reported by the Financial Times, and now the proposed restoration of Russian energy transit through Ukraine all point to the prominence of energy deals in Washington's diplomatic approach. These are separate proposals, with different participants and legal circumstances. But Le Monde's reporting exposes the strategic disagreement underlying them. For Witkoff, restoring commercial flows appears to be part of the mechanism for producing a peace settlement. For Budanov, according to the account, those same flows threaten to restore Moscow's economic leverage over Ukraine. The reported exchange also raises a question about sequencing: why was Kyiv being pressed to stop attacking Russian refineries while Russia continued striking Ukrainian energy infrastructure? Le Monde's reconstruction relies on accounts of a private meeting. The reported exchanges have not been independently confirmed by the participants. Source: Le Monde

The AI boom can be real, and the stocks still be wrong. Banks demanded extra protection on Anthropic’s $63bn financing. CoreWeave’s unsecured bonds yielded ~15%. Stocks are pricing growth. Lenders are pricing the cost of it. My latest Forbes: forbes.com/sites/jimosman/20…

The Country which pulled its Gold out of the US does not care about lending and does not want to lend its Gold to the US. There is no lending here. So why would it even matter to the US that some Gold which is not the US property would leave the US? It's their Gold and they don't give a fuck.
Jamie Dimon to a country that pulled its gold out of New York: you have three armies within 400 miles, while gold in America is protected by two oceans and the US military “If we have the strongest military in the world and the strongest economy in the world, we will be the preeminent reserve currency. It is those two things.” “I was in a country somewhere in the Middle East, and also in Europe, and the people said, we took our gold out of the vaults in New York City and moved it to our country. You know what I said to him? I said, you have three armies within 400 miles who can come take your gold.” “That’s the real world. You’re not thinking clearly about safety. That gold is protected by the Atlantic, the Pacific, the United States military, the rule of law.” “But if we are not the preeminent military and economy, you will see our reserve status come down.”

1/10 Let's stop being silly VanEck. The situation of bonds is this. Japan has radically changed its profile and that is THE ONE Market which is affecting all others in the West. And it'd be nice to know your job. vaneck.com/us/en/blogs/emerg…
1/4 VanEck to the rescue. I kid you not. VanEck point is that the Eurodollar is fine because there are flows from the UK. Yup they wrote that. vaneck.com/us/en/blogs/emerg…

9/10 I wish the US would have demonstrations in the streets too because Bessent is planning budget cuts without lawmakers' approval (France riots are in large part due to 49.3 article that's coming for those cuts). But I don't think the US can push budget cuts that way. It would be nice though.

10/10 I don't think the US gov has yet realized that it has a herd of elephants in the White House oval office as far as the fiscal situation. Elephant one 🐘 Let's never talk about deficit cuts in the US. Elephant two 🐘🐘 Deficit do matter when the trading nation which accumulates the most USD DOES NOT recycle their USD into your debt Elephant three 🐘🐘🐘 Let's pretend that the other nations which do not have a large USD accumulation can pick up the tab. Elephant four 🐘🐘🐘🐘 Let's absolutely ignore that EVs and renewables reduce the need for USD denominated fuel in the very countries that are supposed to pick up the tab. The petrodollar does not exist! Did Bessent get a shift at VanEck?
