RGT 102: What if I told you the greatest shortstop in the history of baseball wore number 2, but was not named Derrick Jeter?
Jack Wilson will be officially inducted as a member of the Pirates Hall of Fame Class of 2026 in a pregame ceremony tomorrow.
Jack spent the first nine years of his 12-year career with the Pirates and ranks fourth in team history in games played at shortstop (1128) and ranks second all-time in games played at PNC Park (583). The 2004 All-Star and Silver Slugger still holds the club record for most double plays turned by a shortstop in a season (129 in 2004).
RGT 101: You’ll never see a better executed good cop/bad cop routine than when you go to the dentist
RGT 100: We have an entire language to use and yet we’ve found a way to have two different grocery stores have the same name. Giant (purple) and Giant (red), figure it out.
RGT 099: I was driving home today and my lane departure warning went off. It was really weird because I was driving on a road that was just oil and chipped so there are no lanes on that stretch of road…
RGT 098: I can’t wait to watch my favorite college football team, Iowa State East… I mean Penn State, this year!
RGT 097: I’m not entirely sure when strawberries are in season but I feel like it can’t be right now. Or at least, the 20 different containers of strawberries I looked at in the grocery store, each with some bad looking strawberries would prove otherwise.
RGT 096: When did we, as a society, start referring to it as “Feels Like” temperature rather than “Wind Chill”
RGT 095: Wear and Tear in College Football 26 has me playing like TY Hilton. When in doubt, run out of bounds or give yourself up. Can’t be playing with my third stringers come the 4th quarter
RGT 093: I don’t if there’s a food that fails to abide by conventional sizing guidelines quite like a calzone/Stromboli. Order a small? That’s actually a large. Order a medium? That’s an XXXL. Order a large? That’ll just be infinitely large.
RGT 092: Adam Schefter is rocking one of the more absurd outfits I’ve seen in awhile. Base layer of a shirt and tie, sweatshirt on top of that, topped off with a suit jacket. Not sure what he’s trying to achieve with it, but I don’t think he is doing it successfully
RGT 091: With Fred Couples being 65 years old and shooting a 71 today, I wonder if anyone has ever shot their age in a round of golf
RGT 090: It’s sad to see the Winter Classic start to lose its fastball. It used to be a New Years Day spectacle with it being only one of a few sports on the day, but now its been reduced to pairing alongside all the other NHL games. The grandeur has been lost
RGT 088: Ever since Pat McAfee started his field goal kick on GameDay, the Dr. Pepper passing competition for like $80,000 seems like it needs to adapt. It doesn’t feel the same when you got the guy on GameDay potentially winning $1.2M today, but some chest passes get 80k
RGT 087: I included the phrase “I reckon…” in an email I sent today. I would like to get ahead of it and address the matter now. We did not win the war and sign the treaty in ‘83 for me to use such a British phrase some 241 years later. I will be better.
RGT 086: My official power rankings for units of temperature:
1. Fahrenheit
2. Kelvin
3. Celsius
4. Rankine
