The most development I had as a football player was in college.
Here’s why:
We did the same drills over and over again for an hour every practice. Then later in meetings we watched film on those drills while being critiqued by the coach. Every detail mattered.
The ones who bought in had some form of success. The ones that didn’t weren’t there very long.
What I learned from that experience was that true development and ultimately long term success come from doing the boring, repetitive things nobody else wants to do.

"Max players, if they’re not scoring and they’re starting to get criticism... usually there will be friction (...) Instead of there being any friction, I had my annual 5K run for Nicklaus Children's Hospital, and he showed up without even letting me know."

Been at ESPN a long time - this one was an all timer. Before social media, it was as viral as a story can be. I watched it on a tape in the news room. I couldn’t stop watching his teammates.

Over 30 high school and middle school kids at @Pro_Vision_Acad training a couple nights ago and didn’t hear one kid complain about the weather. I don’t think that’s by accident. That is culture. I’m extremely proud to be a part of an organization that is building up the next generation through sports. People might call discipline, standards, and hard workouts old school but I believe those foundations still exist today. It starts with the adults, how can I expect you to work towards a standard if I am not living that same standard daily? It also depends on the motive of the adults. If it’s about recruiting kids to win tournaments, then you’ll never be able to push them, they know there is a way out, just go to the next team. If the kid is invested in the work and knows you care about them as an individual, you can help them achieve things they never thought were possible, through hard work. There might be more losses at the beginning, but they will continue to EARN their wins with the coaches and players that believe in them. Something we say at PVA is Earn Your Edge. This is a great example of that. #YouthSports

One of the greatest cheat codes in life is to never get offended. Train yourself to have a thick skin. Don't take things personally. Let others disagree with you. Being easily offended means you're easily manipulated. Want more peace? Avoid getting offended.
