There is nothing quite like the atmosphere at Old Trafford when Manchester United stage a blistering comeback. The old stadium was absolutely rocking tonight. Nights like tonight have been a rarity in the post Ferguson era. #MUNROM

I did read it. All of what is happening in Europe right now - from hacked supermarkets to the Kaliningrad to the first casualties from drone attacks on commercial ships in the Black Sea - is part of the most intensive phase of Russia’s hybrid warfare on the European order.
Replying to @vtchakarova
@vtchakarova did you read what is happening on the border with Kaliningrad? There won't be a conventional war between Russia and NATO, true?

🇺🇸🇮🇷🇮🇱 Hours before the midterms, Trump confirmed it: the U.S. has been striking targets in Iran... He also announced the U.S. will STOP sending $4B a year in aid to Israel by end of year, calling it an agreement between him and Netanyahu. Ret. Indian Army Officer and Defense Analyst Pravin Sawhney has a warning about what comes next. Trump is facing 3 factions pulling in opposite directions: Vance, Whitkoff and Kushner want a deal. Hegseth and Netanyahu want war. Ratcliffe, Rubio and Besant want to keep the blockade and squeeze Iran until it breaks. Nobody is winning that argument. And Trump, by his read, may not even know what he wants to do... The nuclear sequencing is the core problem. Iran wants the blockade lifted first, nuclear talks later. Trump wants nuclear talks first. Neither side is moving. Meanwhile, Khamenei has given the IRGC a new directive: if America starts this war, respond immediately, effectively, and without limits. If Trump pulls the trigger, he could lose control of the war within hours. No pausing it this time. The only exit is a deal. And the Iranians know they’ve already won. @PravinSawhney

As if we didn’t have enough fronts to focus on…
BREAKING: 🇵🇱 Poland launches special operation on the border with Kaliningrad amid Russian sabotage threats Poland has deployed a high-readiness preventive security operation along its northeastern border following intelligence warnings of imminent Russian-backed sabotage. The operation reinforces security across the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship on the border with Kaliningrad and the Podlaskie Voivodeship on the border with Belarus. Analysts warned that armed groups or operatives could attempt border incursions or orchestrate sabotage operations within Polish territory.

Just to remind everyone, Kaliningrad = Russia. If @donaldtusk @Poland attacks Russia, we’ll be in a very different world. Whatever peace deal is currently underway over Ukraine will collapse. The implications are huge. All centers on the Suwalki Gap. The lights are already out in Kaliningrad.

Seems like "manufactured food crisis" is already coming to the EU. Japan has now asked everyone to prepare by stocking up food & water. Whichever DS is doing this, hope they rot in hell. Destroying food and making people starve for "winning" geopolitics is the worst crime ever.
India needs to increase buffer stocks of essential food, improve security against sabotage and smuggling. Because, sometime between 2027-28, I believe the world is going to start facing a manufactured food crisis. India has already done a tremendous work in improving food security in recent years - in production, storage, and strengthening the FCI. But food is going to become the next oil by 2027-28. Hence higher preparation in storage, security, export controls, and preventing smuggling (due to very high prices paid abroad) is required.

Today frequency has gone outside the operational limit in both directions
Replying to @7Kiwi
Empirical analysis of 15-second frequency data vs system inertia shows the grid is becoming harder to manage. Frequency volatility is rising as average daily inertia falls. Operators are working harder to stay within limits. Now NESO has stopped providing inertia data. (4/12)

Just heard an analyst commenting on @ChannelNewsAsia that Europe no longer relies on the cheap Russian gas & cheap American security, and thus must blame external forces for its major troubles now. We all know that & we say it among ourselves but I haven‘t heard such a brutal & honest feedback anywhere on European media yet.

The war in Iran is just around the corner, the trilateral talks between the US, Ukraine and Russia will kick off in November, the Triumvirate of global realpolitik might have its own summit for the first time amid new Cold War, and surprise - there might be finally peace negotiations over the Korea peninsula. So much to unpack!

🚨Poundland is a scandal. Here’s why: People have attacked me for taking up this fight, saying ‘businesses go under all the time, that’s just the free market’. Sure, but this is *crony capitalism* and the 12,000 workers deserve better. This is what’s really happening: Poundland’s owners, an American outfit called Gordon Brothers are trying to put the business into administration. They bought it for £1 and have a £30m loan out to it, which they want back. It’s a tough sector, suffering from fierce competition, battered by Labour’s tax increases and customers feeling the pinch. However, the business is solvent, sales grew 6.7% in the last year and 8.4% in the first three weeks of October. It’s about to see the best trading weeks of the year approaching Christmas. This is not a business that has to shut its doors. What’s more, if Gordon Brothers want to walk away, there are others keen to take it on, as a going concern. I’ve spoken to two, highly credible parties today, who have attempted to buy the business. Both tell me they have the money. One, a hugely successful British retail entrepreneur, didn’t even get a response from Gordon Brothers. They would keep the stores intact and keep the positive momentum going. I’ve been inundated with messages from staff and suppliers, all saying how hard they’ve worked in the past year to turn the business around. Instead, Gordon Brothers are risking 12,000 jobs just before Christmas (and retail isn’t an easy industry to get another job in right now) and potentially another 10,000 amongst the suppliers. Poundland has a number of suppliers that only or largely supply them, and who will face an uncertain future without them. Then there’s the loss to the landlords, the rates owed to local councils, tax due to HMRC and the lost footfall on our high streets if 600 stores shut. The wage bill of Poundland is close to £500m, so you can imagine the cost to the taxpayer in benefits if 12,000 people lose their jobs. Could it be that Gordon Brothers, far from being a real ‘turnaround specialist’ is just trying to look after themselves and make a profit at the expense of literally everyone else? Might they be using the administration process to protect their loan? And the advisors who handle administration will also pockets millions in fees. Naturally. Could we see a decent business run down, shelves slowly emptied and then folded, with everyone losing out bar them? Thats what happened with another, similar business, Poundworld. It’s not for nothing that loyal staff emailing me are calling them ‘Greedy Brothers’. Should politicians be interested in this scandal? Too right they should. Frankly I’m shocked more aren’t. It shows how little Westminster cares about working people. You can be pro business, but anti crony capitalism. Reform UK is. The Business Secretary needs to ask searching questions of Gordon Brothers and this administration process, before a 35 year old mainstay of our high streets and 12,000 jobs are destroyed by them.
