The Village of Perfect People
There was a village where nobody cried.
They painted their windows and kept them bright.
They smiled at breakfast, laughed at noon,
and hid their sadness before the moon.
Nobody spoke of the nights they feared.
Nobody admitted the pain they carried.
They praised the strong, admired the brave,
and buried the feelings they couldn't name.
Then one morning, a little boy cried
in the market square where the adults stood by.
His mother rushed over, ashamed of the scene,
but an old man knelt and asked what it meant.
The boy said, “My father died last night.
Everyone says I should be alright.
But if he's in heaven, and heaven is good,
why does it hurt more than anyone said it would?”
The market fell silent. The smiles disappeared.
For the first time, the village could hear
the sound of a thousand hearts breaking apart,
all those years of silence collapsing at once.
That day, the village learned something strange:
the world doesn't heal when we hide our pain.
Sometimes the bravest thing a person can do
is cry in a place where nobody else does.

You need to be a person In good standing with their own mind, that way, left and right opinions do not throw you off your feet and you can pin strong where you stand.

Honesty without empathy is just cruelty with an excuse. Some people use "just being real" as a cover to drop toxic comments, vent their own bitterness, or tear others down without consequence.
Truth delivered to build or protect someone is accountability; truth delivered like a weapon is just malice.

Pure truth. Real hatred isn't passive, it’s an obsessive spectator sport. People who envy or resent you don't look away; they tune in daily. They read every post, track every move, and quietly monitor your progress, waiting for the one misstep they can celebrate. Your growth is their biggest irritation, and their silence is just low-key surveillance.

Emeka was 34. He lived in Surulere, Lagos. Everybody called him "Strong Man."
He was the man that solved problems. If his mother needed money, Emeka sent it. If his younger brother needed school fees, Emeka paid it. If his friends needed help, Emeka was there.
Emeka had a business. He was importing goods from China. In 2023, the business collapsed. Dollar went up. His goods got stuck at the port. He lost almost 12 million naira.
He was in debt. He could not pay rent. He could not pay his children's school fees. He was depressed.
But Emeka did not tell anybody.
He would wake up, wear clean clothes, and go out smiling. When people asked, "Emeka, how far?" He would say, "We thank God. We are pushing."
Inside, he was dying. He was not sleeping. He was not eating. He was carrying everything alone because society told him, "A real man does not cry. A real man does not complain. A real man carries it."
One night in January 2024, Emeka sat alone in his room. He was tired. He was thinking of ending everything because he felt he had failed as a man.
That same night, his childhood friend, Tunde, called him. Tunde said, "Emeka, you have not been yourself. Talk to me. No judgement."
Emeka broke down for the first time in his life. He cried on the phone like a child. He told Tunde everything. The debt. The depression. The shame.
Tunde did not laugh at him. He did not call him weak. He said, "Bro, you don't have to carry this alone. Come, let's find a way."
Tunde connected Emeka to two other trusted friends. They contributed to help him pay part of his debt. They checked on him every day. Emeka also went to see a professional to talk about his mental health.
Emeka is still rebuilding today. He is not fully out, but he is alive. He is breathing. He is talking.
Because he finally understood: Silence is not strength when it is killing you. A man does not have to break to prove he is strong.

There was this 25-year-old guy in my neighbourhood who was dating a 52-year-old married woman.
The woman rented him an apartment, bought him an iPhone and gave him ₦300k every month.
One day, she bought him a brand-new car and warned him never to entertain other women.
The guy agreed.
Unfortunately, he started using the car to pick up different ladies and even brought one of them to his apartment.
Unknown to him, the sugar mummy had installed a tracker in the car.
One evening, she showed up at his apartment with two hefty men, collected the car keys and slapped him in front of his new girlfriend.
But here is the shocking part…
The young man shouted, “You can’t collect this car! You gave it to me!”
The woman replied, “I bought the car, paid for your apartment and sponsored your lifestyle. Now tell me, which one did you actually buy with your own money?”
His girlfriend quietly picked up her handbag and left.

The Woman Who Collected Goodbyes
She kept every goodbye she heard,
each one folded in a drawer.
The friend who left without a word,
the lover who returned no more.
She saved the letters, kept the gifts,
remembered birthdays, dates, and names.
She learned that people change their hearts
while leaving everything the same.
Her daughter found the drawer one day
and asked why she kept all that pain.
The woman laughed, then looked away.
“Because I was afraid to lose them twice.”
Years later, when her mother died,
the daughter opened that same drawer.
She threw away the letters first,
then sat down crying on the floor.
For every goodbye her mother kept
was proof that once, somebody stayed.
And sometimes what we call an inability to move on
is love with nowhere left to go.

I refused to give my househelp food from the pot yesterday, and my husband called me wicked.
Before you judge me, let me explain.
I cook enough food for my family every day. My househelp has her own food allowance, and I give her money to buy whatever she wants.
But recently, she started eating from the pot before everyone else, sometimes leaving very little for the children.
I warned her twice.
Yesterday, I caught her serving herself the food I had prepared for dinner while the children were still at school.
I asked her to stop and wait until everyone had eaten.
My husband said I was treating her like a slave and that she should be free to eat whenever she's hungry.
I told him I had no problem with her eating. My problem was eating food prepared for everyone without considering the others.
He said I was making a big deal out of nothing.

A barrister is suing MTN, alleging that his elderly, uneducated mother was unknowingly enrolled in several paid services after repeatedly pressing “OK” on pop-up messages simply to make them disappear.
She couldn't read or understand the prompts. He alleges that MTN exploited her illiteracy, resulting in airtime deductions without her informed consent.
He is seeking ₦10 million in damages.
Pressing “OK” is not informed consent. I hope he wins. Our vulnerable elderly deserve protection, not exploitation.
