Washington state ballot iniative 638 would force all girls K-12 to undergo an invasive & traumatic genital exam to "PROVE" they arent transgender before playing sports. Girls as young as SIX. This where trans panic leads. It's a great example of how transphobia hurts ALL women.

Male bears will kill another bear's cubs on purpose, so the mom is ready to mate again in a few days instead of up to two and a half years. Some mother bears figured out how to protect their cubs from it. They started living closer to people. That cub with her paw up is learning to stand, which is how bears check for danger over tall grass. Brooke Bartleson, who filmed her, said cubs this age are so wobbly they flail their arms just to stay upright. That's the "wave." She tipped over a few seconds later. She has good reason to learn fast. Park biologists at Katmai in Alaska figure only a third to half of brown bear cubs make it through their first year, and other bears are a big part of why. One study in Interior Alaska found 69% of cub deaths happened in a 17-day stretch in early June, right in the middle of mating season. So researchers in Sweden set out to see what the successful moms were doing differently. They put GPS collars on 26 mother bears and tracked them from 2005 to 2012. Sixteen of them raised their cubs and ten lost them. The moms who kept their cubs lived about 780 meters from the nearest people. The moms who lost theirs stayed around 1,210 meters away. Male bears avoid humans, and the mothers seem to know it. The ones who made it moved toward villages full of bear hunters, because the woods full of male bears were worse. Now go back and look at the mom in that first photo. She's got her head down eating grass while someone stands right there filming her kids. I can't tell you what was going through her head, but now you know who she was keeping an eye out for. We all grew up being told to stay far away from a mama bear with cubs, and some of those mamas decided the best place to raise them was right next to us.

This.
CPTSD is sitting alone on your birthday and telling yourself you like it this way. It’s convincing yourself you don’t need anyone when the truth is, you needed people deeply once and they weren’t there for you. So you learned to stop needing them before they could be the ones to leave first. The loneliness you choose can still feel safer than the abandonment you never chose.

Chomsky was wrong. Researchers found your brain doesn’t store language the way every textbook since 1957 claims. For decades, the undisputed rule of linguistics, led by Noam Chomsky, was that human language is hierarchical. We were told our brains process language using complex "grammar trees." That we secretly build deep, abstract, mathematical rules in our heads before we speak. This new paper proves that is completely wrong. Researchers at Cornell University analyzed how people actually process and produce language in real time. They found sequences. Linear chunks. When we speak, we aren't calculating deep syntactic rules. We are just predicting the next most logical sequence of words based on the context of the words right before it. We string linear chunks together. If this sounds familiar, it should. This is exactly how Large Language Models like ChatGPT work. For years, critics have dismissed AI as "just a next-token predictor." They said it isn't truly intelligent because it doesn't understand deep grammatical hierarchies like humans do. But this paper suggests humans don't use those hierarchies either. We are just predicting the next chunk. Language isn't a rigid tree of mathematical rules. It's a linear stream of contextual predictions. We thought we were building AI to mimic the complexity of the human brain. It turns out, the human brain was just running a simpler algorithm all along.

The epidemic of the Internet projecting male sexuality onto women continues A lot of men cry foul if a woman says she doesn't find Henry Cavill, Brad Pitt, or Leonardo DiCaprio attractive. They refuse to believe it Because when it comes to female celebrities, men tend to agree on which women are universally beautiful (Elizabeth Hurley, Megan Fox, Sydney Sweeney) Even if men don't agree on how beautiful some female celebrities are, you don't see men saying "ew" at someone like Emma Watson so much as "she's not my type, but I'd still sleep with her" But women don't rate men the same way We know this partly because of the infamous OKCupid study the chuds love to take out of context - the one showing women rated a majority of men as "below average" in looks, yet still messaged and went out with them anyway (in other words, it didn't say all women are only sleeping with the top ten percent of men; to the contrary, it found the opposite to be true) But why did the chuds read that study so wrong? Because they can't stop projecting male sexuality onto women, they completely missed the point: women are far more willing to date men who don't fit a standard visual mold because women do not select exclusively for looks Men and women reproduce differently, which means we evolved different mating strategies Men rate female attractiveness on a standard bell curve. Visual traits associated with youth and fertility trigger passive baseline attraction for the overwhelming majority of women A man might have a personal "type" - brunettes over blondes, tall over short - but because his physical investment in reproduction can be virtually zero, his threshold for physical intimacy remains low That is why a man will look at a woman who isn't his specific ideal and say, "She’s not my type, but I’d still sleep with her" Almost no man looks at Emma Watson and experiences a genuine, visceral turn off ("ew"), because his brain classifies visual fertility markers as an immediate green light Women, in contrast, do not evaluate men on a bell curve. They evaluate men on an all or nothing basis Because women bear the entire physical and metabolic burden of pregnancy, childbirth, and nursing, their evolutionary baseline isn't "Is he hot enough for a quick encounter?" it's much closer to "Is this man safe, reliable, and compatible enough to risk my survival on?" When a woman says "ew" to a guy like Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, or Henry Cavill, it isn't because she can't see their symmetrical features It’s because female attraction is holistic. A specific guy's aura, demeanor, archetype, or reputation can trigger an immediate mismatch or safety red flag in a woman's brain, regardless of his looks, because it's based on her, not him (literally "it's not you, it's me") A hyper-masculine guy might signal strength to one woman, but signal aggression or volatility to another. A slick playboy archetype might signal status to one woman, but untrustworthiness and abandonment risk to another While men evolved to select for visual markers of fertility, women evolved to select for complex behavioral traits: emotional intelligence, stability, loyalty, competence - none of which have anything to do with looks If you still don't believe me, ask Playboy They were doing so well selling magazines of naked women to men they thought women would want their own magazines full of handsome naked men, so they called it Playgirl And only gay men bought it. Women were not interested Because "safety" and "compatibility" look wildly different to every individual woman based on her own personality, past experiences, and values, women will never have a consensus on male attractiveness Men select against a uniform biological template; women select for individual alignment Male attraction asks, "Is she fertile?" Female attraction asks, "Can he keep me safe?" That is why the male fantasy of an undisputed "alpha face" that every woman desires simply doesn't exist
Why do so many men have trouble understanding the concept that a guy can be conventionally handsome & still not be appealing to an individual woman? Endless women crush on Jack Black. Adam Driver. Jeremy Allen White. It's almost like women don't require a literal Ken doll to be turned on, and literal Ken dolls can be appealing but aren't always. Does this tell us something about *male* attraction? Can men not fathom not being attracted to a a conventionally attractive woman?

It’s kinda funny how his entire campaign for the Peace Prize over the last 2 years is “give me the fucking award you little bitch or I’m gonna target your country.”

🧵Musk’s explanation here doesn’t add up. Ukraine’s strike targets did not change in October, far as I know. & Musk says Starlink terms of service did not change. So why did Musk suddenly throttle Starlink in October, coincidentally right when Trump announced his RU diesel deal?
Besides this being arguably treason he could have admitted he did this at the time and did not

Yep. I want to remember having a conversation with a retired Boomer who did nothing all day but watch f****** TV. He was mad because his kids would never come to visit him. So I asked him are your kids retired? He said no. Are your kids independently wealthy? He said no. Do your kids have kids that they have to take care of? He said yes. I told him maybe he should turn his TV off and go visit his kids... He just stared at me.

Mitch McConnell has just delivered a warning Trump cannot afford to ignore. In The Wall Street Journal, the veteran Republican senator warned that Trump’s continued submission to Putin could jeopardise his entire legislative agenda. McConnell calls Trump’s Russia policy strategically naive and morally bankrupt. More importantly, he signals that Republican senators may withhold their support unless Trump changes course. This is no longer merely about Ukraine. It is about whether Republicans will allow an American president to keep rewarding a Russian dictator while undermining America’s allies. For once, Trump may discover that Congress has a spine.
