Haaretz has documented that Israeli firms, including Toka (co-founded by former PM Ehud Barak and former IDF cyber chief Brig. Gen. Yaron Rosen), have developed and marketed tools under the umbrella of CARINT (“car intelligence”).
These tools can exploit connected vehicles’ multimedia systems to track location and movements, and in some cases access hands-free microphones and dashboard/external cameras for audio/video collection.
Toka previously offered an “offensive” product for this; Israel’s Defense Ministry approved it for demonstration and potential sale to clients. Other Israeli firms (e.g., Rayzone, Ateros) work in the broader space of vehicle tracking via telemetry, SIM data, roadside cameras, and data fusion without always requiring a full device compromise.
Toka is also known (from a 2022 Haaretz investigation) for tools that discover, hack, stream, and alter live or recorded feeds from security cameras and IoT devices with minimal forensic traces marketed for “masking of on-site activities” in covert ops.
The same reporting noted that such capabilities could hypothetically have helped obscure the 2010 Mossad operation in Dubai (Mahmoud al-Mabhouh assassination), where agents were identified via extensive CCTV. Toka was founded in 2018.
These systems sit alongside the broader Israeli commercial offensive cyber ecosystem (Pegasus-style phone spyware from NSO and others like Cellebrite, IoT/camera tools, etc.), largely export-controlled via the Defense Ministry and sold to government clients. Connected cars, cameras, and IoT expand the attack surface far beyond phones.
Connected vehicles and cameras are inherently data-rich; the Haaretz pieces highlight how commercial cyber tools can turn that into targeted surveillance or operational support.

When the puppets from TPUSA publicly attack a political candidate it makes me curious as to why.
@teriannhourihan doesn't trust that TPUSA is doing the right things and I'm under the same impression.
