Lovely to catch up with Annaliese Dodd over coffee this morning. I’ve always been impressed by her sincerity and dedication - both in her role as an MP and in her work on the Economy, Equality, and International Development portfolios.

A privilege to consider among such distinguished photographers who it is we trust to show us what is happening in our world and help us distinguish between fiction and truth. It would be a big help for media awareness to be included on the National Curriculum. #RGSSummitPhoto

100 organisations are calling for an end to Israel’s weaponisation of aid.
Oxfam alone has over $2.5 million worth of food, water and hygiene supplies rejected from entering Gaza, while communities face famine and preventable diseases.
The UK must use every lever at its disposal to protect humanitarian space and ensure aid reaches those who need it most.

Three months after the UK hosted a Peace Conference, Sudan is spiralling. 640,000 children face cholera, famine has taken hold, families are eating animal feed to survive. Cuts to UK aid are costing lives. This is the world’s worst crisis and the UK must act.
It has now been three months since the UK Government hosted the London Conference on Sudan, yet conditions on the ground have only worsened.
More than 640,000 children are at risk from a cholera outbreak. Famine has been declared in ten regions. People are surviving on animal fodder. This is the world’s largest humanitarian crisis and it is rapidly deteriorating.
Instead of scaling up support, the UK’s cuts to the aid budget have made it harder to reach those in desperate need. The international community’s failure to act decisively is costing lives.
I visited the Sudanese border last year and saw the toll this conflict was already taking across the region. Now, over 30 million people require humanitarian assistance and the war shows no sign of ending.
Oxfam is calling on the UK Government to match its diplomatic efforts with meaningful action: lead the charge for a permanent ceasefire and a genuine peace process; ensure unhindered humanitarian access, and fully fund the humanitarian appeal, which is critically under-resourced.
The UK cannot afford to stand by while Sudan’s people face starvation, disease and displacement on a mass scale. This is a crisis the world can no longer ignore.
