Hillbrow isn't just an electoral talking point. It is a neighborhood where people live, work, raise kids and in many cases endure extreme insecurity. Human trafficking, kidnappings, sexual exploitation and drug related crimes are among the serious challenges confronting the area
It is deeply troubling that an esteemed public figure like Julius Malema would appear to treat the prospect of confronting crime and restoring law and order in a troubled neighborhood like Hillbrow as an amusing political challenge
He is shamelessly delighted by the difficulty of the task as though the prospect of restoring Hillbrow is some far fetched fantasy rather than a legitimate and necessary aspiration
