It’s ok to just feel bad sometimes. People who accepted their negative emotions without judging themselves had better psychological health 6 months later.

Met a young woman diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer. She had a real chance of being cured. But someone promised her a “100% natural cancer cure.” No chemotherapy. No surgery. Just herbal remedies and miracle therapies. She believed them. Months passed. Her cancer spread. Today, she has Stage IV breast cancer. A potentially curable disease became metastatic while she was being sold false hope. And the people who misled her? Still running their so-called “cancer healing centres.” Meanwhile, qualified doctors who spend 10–15 years studying medicine face endless scrutiny and regulation. Regulate doctors. Absolutely. But who is holding these fake cancer healers accountable? This isn’t alternative medicine. This is exploitation of vulnerable patients. India needs stronger action against fraudulent cure claims. False hope should never be allowed to steal someone’s chance of survival. @MoHFW_INDIA @NMC_IND @PMOIndia #CancerAwareness #PatientSafety

I've been saying for years that one of the most exciting aspects of AI is how it can find unusual associations among data points. Now a study further proves that: CT scans reveal much about a patient's health beyond the specific condition they were originally ordered for! Penn Medicine researchers seem to really like video games and English history, as they named their CT AI model Percival. Imagine: a doctor orders a CT scan for a specific reason, and then the department's AI model can find many other things, too. "Percival was found to uncover traces of several chronic conditions, including atrial fibrillation (a form of irregular heartbeat) and chronic kidney disease in scans. Additionally, when compared to a similar AI model called TotalSegmentator, Percival was found to flag conditions like pancreatic cancer, cirrhosis and bacterial pneumonia much more reliably." Inside a human brain when reading a book.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
This video shows time-lapse of cultured neurons connecting via growth cones in a lab dish, not processes in a living human brain while reading. Similar real clips by Dr. Lila Landowski show developmental wiring; this one's exact source is unconfirmed. youtube.com/watch?v=Rvmvt7… lifo.gr/now/tech-scien…

Recent research finds that the ovaries of old mice become infiltrated with immune cells and may secrete immune signals into the body. The consequences of these changes aren’t clear, but a similar transformation in humans could have health implications after menopause. Learn more: scim.ag/4grQaoD @NewsfromScience

When medically necessary, caesarean sections can make the difference between life and death for mothers and babies. But even though caesarean sections have become very safe in many parts of the world, they remain complex medical interventions, with risks and a recovery that can be challenging. Miss World #Uganda Muhoza Trivia Elle’s “Layers of Life” gown tells that story in a unique and powerful way: raising awareness of the realities of caesarean section childbirth while celebrating the strength of mothers who have experienced it. Picking your nose is associated with risk of Alzheimer’s disease. Researchers at western sydney university found a terrifying link between chronic nose-picking and neurodegenerative disease. Your olfactory nerve (nerves that process smell) is a direct highway from your nasal cavity straight into your brain. It bypasses the blood-brain barrier entirely. When you pick your nose, two dangerous things happen at once: You introduce pathogens (viruses, bacteria, fungi) from contaminated hands into your nasal passages. You create micro-tears in the delicate nasal tissue, stripping away its natural defenses. Once the tissue is damaged, bad actors like Chlamydia pneumoniae and HSV-1 travel straight up the olfactory pathway and invade the brain. The brain's immediate response to this infection? It deposits amyloid-beta proteins, the exact protein clumps that form the hallmark plaques of Alzheimer's disease, as an antimicrobial defense mechanism. Over time, chronic nose-picking triggers persistent low-grade neuroinflammation. The result: • Chronic activation of brain immune cells • Acceleration of tau protein tangles • Irreversible neuronal damage over time The authors call for a massive push on basic hand hygiene as an overlooked preventative measure for neurodegenerative health. It turns out your nose is not just a filter. It’s an open door to your central nervous system, nd breaking the physical barrier might carry a heavy long-term cost.

We’re on the way to 10 Downing Street to hand in our open letter signed by nearly 60,000 people, including broadcasting icon Jon Snow. We’re dropping our weighty open letter on the PM’s doorstep just as we’ve released new research revealing how families affected by dementia are being forced to put their lives on hold as they wait for a diagnosis. That’s why we’re calling for a bold and ambitious plan for earlier diagnosis. Our CEO, Michelle Dyson, said: 'Too many families spend months, and sometimes years, waiting for answers while their dementia progresses. It is like trying to plan a journey without knowing where you are going or when you will arrive. Behind every delayed diagnosis is a family living with uncertainty and trying to prepare for the future without the support they need.' Do you feel like your life was ‘put on hold’ while waiting for a diagnosis? Share your experience in the comments. Read the full story by Shaun Wooller in today’s @DailyMail.
