I’m absolutely beside myself. While in Lisbon, a surrogate mother pregnant with twins in her second trimester reached out to me asking for help. The intended parent wants the surrogate mother to abort the babies. The surrogate mother is feeling pressure to agree to an abortion she doesn’t want. I haven’t heard from her in 2 days. I’m hoping she’s put away her devices for the weekend and hasn’t succumbed to pressure from bullies - not concerned about humankind, but rather $$$$.
Legalizing surrogacy will not protect women and children. Contracts don’t help. The US needs to close its borders to international surrogacy arrangements now.

Women who object to being locked up with violent male convicts are penalised. It's apt to describe them as political prisoners at this point.
MIXED SEX PRISONS : I have many good friends who have drank the koolaid and when I argue that housing men with women in prison is unconscionable they will say things like "Laoise you are choosing one extreme example to make all trans people look bad" or "Laoise, there are lots of issues that prisoners face in prison, why are you obsessed with this one." Or the one that left me speechless by an RTE journalist "What is one incident (she meant one rape) when the happiness and actualisation of the whole of the trans population is at stake."
Only once did I see a flicker of realisation. It was when I told a friend from California about SB123 and the fact of condoms being handed to incarcerated women ahead of the influx of male prisoners. Now that this policy has bedded in, female prisoners who complain to the prison authorities are losing parole. How cruel. How inhumane. How vindictive. And what an abuse of power. This woman truly is a political prisoner as she is being held at the behest of ideology and punished for her reasonable and justifiable dissent.
And still the cult marches on through the institutions, destroying women's rights left and children's health right.

Women aren’t allowed to be attended to by male doctors in Afghanistan, and women aren’t allowed to go to school either or work outside the home… So women no longer have access to healthcare providers. Women are not allowed to speak or read in public because their voices are c c considered intimate, they are not allowed to look at men they are not related to by blood, they can’t go out in public without a male escort, they are literal prisoners but yes, feminism is the problem. Misogyny and the patriarchy have no logic, no care, no humanity.

I have never seen a film watched these many times get COMPLETELY ignored by mainstream media. To me, certain things are v clear: ideologues don’t want to promote
1) film about females if it falls out of permissible remit (read: virtue signalling)
2) film made by female who isn’t white, with a name that’s prone to be butchered into various versions that makes everyone nervous lol (another post some other day to point out the various racist encounters across the board)
3) film made to call out the glaring issue that has the potential to shake the very foundation of this porn-sick woman-face wearing cult
Good thing though, I’d carry on my work either way. But one thing is true: those complicit in silencing women’s voices to support nappy wearing middle aged abusive white dudes, should hang their sorry selves in shame.
